Does anyone play with a high amount of decisons based primarily on instincts and reads rather than maths?
I.e playing the player/s rather than the cards?

Well, it comes to a point where all of that gets rolled into one big instinct. Your "gut feeling" is your subconscious doing all the math and reads for you and then giving you the right answer.

Not for me... of course I play the players and not the cards very often, but I always have a good idea of what are theoods for him to fold, what are the ods I'm in fornt and h'ell call... etc etc etc...

when i first started playing, i was with a bunch of other new players and none of us knew the math or anything, but still some of us won consistently and others didn't. i know now that we were all absolutely terribly players then, but i do think that some people have a better instinct for the game than others. i'm not sure it that just means intuitive math knowledge or reads or what. i think that two players could know all the same math stuff and one could still be a much better player than the other.

when i play live, i trust highly in my ability to read opponents. i know the math, but i also tend to know when my opponents are strong or not. i hate to sound like a know it all, but im definantly pretty good at it. sometimes its because of a tell, a betting pattern, or sometimes its weird and i honestly just say "he has to have it" and im beggining to suprise myself with accuracy

now if only my math was as good as that

Depends on the game. When I'm playing NL I tend to play the player more then the cards and odds...when I'm playing limit, it's all about my cards and the odds...Since I tend to be better at Limit then NL I tend to think that I'm much better at math then reading people...

When you only do the math you will see that most bets made by others are way above your calling range, whilest you ARE ahead.

when its 4:40 am and you came back from a drinking party, your instincts tell you to stop playing poker and go to sleep.

I try to read but sometimes it can go wrong and other times it can go very right.
If you think they are drawing u can play it accordingly and whatever. You pick up on betting patterns by people that draw to flushes or straights.

I made a called this guy with pocket 10s all the way down to the river cus i thought he was bluffing and it turned out he was. There were something like 2 overcards on table but his betting was so odd it made me suspicious.

On the internet the only way to read people is through betting patterns, you can't actually read their behavoir or anything like that
