1st hand: Can't really comment because I don't know the whole situation from your side, most of the time stacking off with bottom pair isn't good there though.

2nd hand: AK is a fistpump call in that situation, and doubling up pretty much guarantees a cash, which is why I guess you were quite upset about it.
While the outcome is unfortunate, both of you made the right decision imo.
