I have been registered at 888Poker for approximately 2 years. In the last six months or so, I haven't actually logged into the site to play at all. One day ago, I recieved an email from them letting me know that I hadn't logged into 888Poker for some time, and that I still had $111.64 in my account.
Approximately 24 hours after I recieved this email, I log into the site to find out that my balance was now $100.44, 10% short of the $111.64 that they notified me was in my account, so I immediately withdraw the rest of it.
I then contact their support staff, to be told that if I don't use the account for 6 months, they start to deduct 10% of my balance per month until they clean out the account. UNBELIEVABLE!!
I was then told that they were well within their rights to do so, because it was written in their terms and conditions, which can be found here:
http://www.888poker.com/security-and...-agreement.htm
I don't know about anyone else, but to me this is totally unacceptable ...
ANYBODY CONSIDERING USING 888Poker
BE VERY WARY!!!

They are known for SPAM but in my experience with them they have been very professional. I remember Party Poker used to do that not sure if they still do though.

I agree that they are definitely known for SPAM and I had a buddy of mine go over 6 months without logging in and he had the same thing happen with the e-mail then 10% less although he had a little over 12K in his account so 888 made out great. Sad, but true I don't play on there anymore.

Unbelievable
It's Unbelievable but you are right. I just followed your link and read it:
"...Should you fail to use your account for six months your account will be considered a "dormant account". The six-month period will run from the date of your last login to your account. In the case of a dormant account, the Company will levy a monthly administration fee at a rate of 10% of the balance in the account on the date that it became dormant. The administration fee shall be deducted from the dormant account commencing from the last day of the sixth month in which the account is inactive and on the last day of every month thereafter, until the balance of the account has reached zero."
Does anyone know how to get their official reaction?

This is not new at all , can't believe this crappy rule is till on their T&C . Party has some fee as well for inactive accounts but it's like a couple of bucks , 10% of the bankroll it's just theft even if they return it afterwords .

After further review almost all poker sites have that in your T&C.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with my new friend kbrkal here. Many poker sites do this, which I personally don't agree with.
The biggest reason being is that they make money off of our interest anyway. Even if you only have 5 bucks, thats added into their large pool of reserve cash that they invest. Assuming they are making a reasonable 5% on that, they are also making 10% on their dormant players PLUS a lot more on their active players.
This is one of the reasons why I am donating thousands of dollars every year (almost 10k last year) towards the legalization and regulation of online poker within the USA. The banks and credit unions in the US have been screwing us over for decades, and finally people are saying something (overdraft charges, fine print interest charges, outright mortgage lies, etc.). The poker industry, unfortunately, is far behind the banking industry in this particular aspect, so buyer beware.
Even if you are signing up with one of the big names, read the fine print and understand it. I'm not saying that the industry cannot be trusted. Simply do your research and understand it all before you put in money that is worth something to you.

i agree that it is "fishy" at least, but it is IN THE RULES!
If you sign up to a site you are supposed to read the rules and agree to them.. that YOU click on them without reading is your fault....
I pay 10% fees and maintenance charges on a lot fo my online accounts, but i KNEW they would happen so i dont grumble. It is how i pay for all my poker software (table Ninja, Poker Office) and they make me more money then the costs so i am happy with the fact i READ the terms....

Sure everyone is supposed to read those terms and rules but who really has the time when its over 2,000 words?
