I probably shouldn't have, but I did visit your website. Nowhere did I see anything about a freeroll tournament.

We announce it via mass e-mail to all of our current customers. The promotions that we decided to list on the website are for free StoxPoker memberships and free cash for new accounts.
It requires that you simply sign up through RakeGuard and rake 1 dollar during this month. That will get you an entry to our freeroll.
Hope this helps!

Hey Rakeguard, not to nit-pick, but that's not really a free-roll if you need to sign up with you, make a deposit, and play a certain amount. After all, isn't the idea of a freeroll to make something out of nothing?

Greetings Argentis,
Your point is a valid one the term "freeroll" confuses some people. There are many different types of freerolls out there, and I will like my friend wikipedia do the explaining:
"Freeroll tournaments can be genuinly free, may require a payment of points (from a point system developed by the site), or on some occasions require a deposit of funds into the player's account. The winnings are either real money, points, merchandise or entry tickets (invitations) to other tournaments. Most if not all Internet poker sites have freeroll tournaments although in many cases require a payment of points to play. These points typically can only be earned by paying and playing real money hands which in essence is a payment required to play their 'freerolls' and therefore a loose use of the term 'freeroll'. There are Internet sites that allow playing in freerolls without payment of any kind and with the chance to win real money."
Basically, if it wasn't done this way, we would have 3,000 players pushing all in with any face card for a few hours. Since this requires a tiny bit of effort to gain entry, it weeds out certain types of players, and creates a better place to play for the more serious players.
I hope this helps to clear any confusion that you may have had.
Best Regards,
RakeGuard

I guess I need to come to the defense of RakeGuard here, since I am a very happy member myself (and will be playing in the formentioned freeroll!). I looked up "freeroll" on wikipedia and here are the applicable definitions:
"The term freeroll is also used to describe a tournament with no entry fee but the use of the terms 'free' and 'no entry fee' can be misleading because some freerolls require a payment at some point to gain entry to the tournament.
Freeroll tournaments can be genuinly free, may require a payment of points (from a point system developed by the site), or on some occasions require a deposit of funds into the player's account. The winnings are either real money, points, merchandise or entry tickets (invitations) to other tournaments."
So I'd have to say that the RakeGuard tournament is certainly a freeroll, and a pretty darn nice one at that...
