Me and my friend have been playing poker with fake money on pokerstars and we wanted to try it out with real money. Is that illegal??? we live in USA and we couldnt deposit the money with visa or checking account. I guess it is illegal and cant be done but how do so many other players play on pokerstars and they are from USA??? Can you go to jail for playing online poker with real money???

The legality of playing poker online for real money is governed by State Laws, not US Federal Law. The only thing the UEIGA did was make it more difficult to make real money deposits in online poker rooms. The small amount of money in my PokerStars account was money I won playing in freerolls and have built on since. But, there are still several ways for a US player to make real money deposits at Stars. To me, the best way would be to use a US Postal Service Money Order that is negotiable outside the US...you must specify this when buying the money order at the post office window. I've used these when buying things on E-Bay from sellers in England. Anyway, I think it would be a real kick to use a US Postal Service Money Order as a way of symbolically sticking it to those idiots in Congress who want to keep us from enjoying our past time playing poker.

You are going to have to deposit via Western Union my friend. The VISA gift card days are over. Either that or an international Money Order. You can get one at your bank or the Post Office.
