Bodog Buying Up Poker Points

Anybody have any idea why Bodog would be offering to pay cash to buy every one's poker points? I don't know if I should cash mine in or keep them to use for buying in to tournaments. Does anyone know if any other site has done this? Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.
