Keeping fish at the table
I've been having issues recently with sitting down at a table solely because one or more, how to put it, retards are already there donking around, but they leave soon after. Now it's not that they're scared of me or anything but too often I only get 30 ish hands with these guys before they leave.
I hear people say alot that you shouldn't berate a fish for bad play because you'll scare them off, but from what I've seen if the chat box is quiet, as soon as they win a decent pot they're off.
What tactics/mind games do you employ to keep these guys hanging around?

ive always seen the same thing with a lot of my crypto donk buddies.
they sit down, donk half their stack away on a few stupid hands, hit runner runner flush against me, get back to what they started with and they leave.
a few more seem to enjoy chatting, particularly when they're involved in berating another player, usually an 8/2 rock who they think sucked out on them i cant help but get involved and take the donks side in the hope that the rock will leave
personally, i cant see any way to keep em at the table...some just want to win that big pot and run, others want to just get back to even for the session, others will sit around no matter what, including being shouted and roared at.
and fwiw, im only involved in berating the donks when im playing hu

The best way to keep a donk at the table is too make the game personal for them. I don't berate their play, that's counterproductive. I simply call to attention how they can't win a pot off me and question their manhood. generally this is enough to get their competitive juices flowing.
For instance, a normal chat may go something like this (suppose the donk just folded on the river).
ME: Why even bother playing a hand against me, you're gonna lose, I'm unstoppable
DONK: whatever
ME: Why don't you just leave before I take all your chips
DONK: ok, whatever
ME: Would you like to borrow a belt so you can strap a pair of balls on
Generally by this point he wants to beat me so bad he's drooling. Anyone who has played PFO tables with me has seen me belittle unknowns in the chatbox. I rarely belittle their game, just call them homos and stuff like that. Although, I always belittle the rocks

I never thought of steve-o's approach.
Persaonlly, whenever I see total donk who will go broke very fast, I try to comment on his play like
"nice pot", "damn, you are running hot", etc...
To reenforce to him that he is playing well. (so hopefully he stays longer).

So that why you said I was a good player in the PFO tourney? It all becomes clear now.

I never thought of that Steve, I'm generally quiet at the table but I might branch out a bit, lol.

Steve-O's tactic sounds like it would help some degens add a buy-in or two to try and prove themselves. But when they win a nice pot you better be quick with that "Lucky hand, but it would never happen twice" or they'll be gone as soon as it hits.
It's different for me than some of you as I don't play purly for money, but I rarely berate people at the table. Sometimes when someone is being a real dick telling everyone at the table how bad we all are, and then they screw up, I cant help but ask if they give lessons.
Calling out someones man hood (Could be a kid, someones grandfather or even a grandmother) seams pretty immature even if it's profitable. If they start beaking off and set the tone, then I suppose is ok on the theory that if they can give it they can take it. Yes, this from the guy who commented about a member and the image they portrayed to some of us on the PFO.

lol, lighten up man.
talking smack is part of poker. and Frankly even if I knew it was some 16yo kid, or 60yo women I would do it if it meant increased profit. To some ppl poker is their main source of income.
+ only degenerates play, so they can take it,.

I needle people, it's part of the game, and life for that matter.
1st off, a 16 year old kid shouldn't be gambling. 2nd, a 60 year old woman should find it funny that I am asking her to strap a pair of balls on. there is a big difference between needling a total stranger and personally attacking someone based on a few comments they make. I don't call them shit parents or anything, I simply let them know they can't beat me.
I mean, it's not like I do it every time I sit down. I hardly ever chat.
