Rake
Just curious as to what kind of percentage sites like 888 and party take? - Ive been told that they skew the odds in favour of the player with the least money inorder for them to get more money.. Surely this can't be true as they must have been tested by independent bodies?

Oh no, this has the makings of a poker is rigged thread.
Generally online I've found rake to be 5% up to $3 at all tables post flop but it will vary.

5% rake is standard, usually capped at $3. Sites don't skew odds, that would be bad for business.To add, most, if not all online poker rooms do have their shuffles and deals tested by independent third parties. Many post the results on their sites. Some online poker websites have done away with the rake altogether. These "rake free" poker rooms generate revenue by increasing traffic to the company's other profitable businesses, such as sports

Go to google and search for marketrake. You should find a site that shows what percentage of each pot gets raked, for various sites.

Stupid question may be, but after seeing the word so many times on your banners and finally noticing a topic named after it I will take the chance on asking. What does "rake" mean in poker ? Or Casinos ? Anyway pls let me know, and thanks in advance!

Rake is what the house takes to make a profit. Since in poker you don't actually play against the house, the house has no edge. Instead, you pay the casino a percentage of each pot and/or a rate by time (usually every half hour or hour in live casinos).
Online, players will usually pay about 5% per pot, and you will see this deducted at the top of the table.
Some affiliates will *guard* against this, and you give you what is called "rakeback." This can be up to 75% of the rake getting put back into your account provided that you sign up through a rakeback affiliate.

Nice information
Wow, thanks a lot, really. I had the impression that there is no way for casinos to take any money from the gamblers in poker except for tournament fees and advertising around big events. Ah, those sharks... how didn't I suppose they will think of a way to make a profit out of the only game without a dealer not taking part in the bets and winnings. Anyway, thanks again :}
