Default WSOP 09' day 6 preview: Unknowns top leaderboard, Hachem and Ivey survive

Day 5 proved to be moving day at the WSOP; with several little known players making their way to the top of the leader-board. Warren Zackey with over 4.8 million in chips, and Kasper Cordes with 4.3 million: Neither player had cashed in a major tournament prior to the 09' Main Event.

Of the 185 remaining players, roughly 10% of the field is comprised of 'name' players, so there is still hope for those of us pulling for a pro to win the main Event. 2005 Main Event Champion, Joe Hachem, is the only former champion left in the field.

Although the pros had trouble moving up the leader-board on Day 5, many were able to maintain their chip-stack: Most notably Phil Ivey with 1,380,000 chips.

    Other notable day 5 survivors:

Nasr el Nasr, Blair Hinkle, Jeff Schulman, Antonio Esfandiari, Theo Tran, Joe Serock, Ian Woodley, and Joe Sebock all have over 1 million chips.

Bertrand "ElkY" Grosspeiler, Blair Rodman, David Benyamine, Kenny Tran, JC Tran, Prahlad Friedman,, Chris Bjorin, Cole "CTS" South, Jose Rosenkrantz, Joe Hachem, and Jamin Stokes will all have to get something going on Day 6.

    That would be disgusting!!

Good for him for making it this deep. I love it when guys prove that they're not just a fluke. Raymer backed up his win with a deep run the following year as well. Hachem is also backing up his win with a deep run this year.

Wow. What a WSOP run for this guy. Came out of nowhere last year. Played real well leading up to the final table. Had a decent shot of making a splash, but fell apart early. Maybe he's picked up some new tricks.
