This time around they won't be able to blame the location, tournament staff, or the Bellagio concurrently running satellite's to the 25k championship as they did at Foxwoods.
After day1a's lackluster turnout of 126 players, the WPT was hoping for a huge day 1b: Unfortunately it didn't happen. It looks like around 210 players will compete on day 1b, for a total field of approximately 335 entrants. Almost a 40% drop from last year (late registration is still open).
This is a far cry from last years 545 entrants, 2007's 639, and 2006's 605.
With the recent news of 8 figure losses last year, and dwindling tournament numbers I have to wonder if the WPT will be looking for government bailout money soon.

That sucks.
Lots of good rakeback options at http://www.rakeguard.com/?raf=KRE8R
KRE8R probably has about seventy college funds in his NL5 roll.

168 players left after day 2.
and check out this beauty: During play, it was discovered that the field of 337 was actually 338, due to a miscount in the player entries. As a result, the prize pool and payouts were slightly altered to reflect the additional $25,000.
