I used to go to the Casinos back in my home town fairly often, mostly playing Stud and the odd 3/6 LHE game, back before I really had any idea of how to play.
Yesterday for my friends B-day he decided he wanted to go and we rounded up a group of us to head to the new Casino in Vancouver. It is a really nice place with a huge cardroom, they claim it is the biggest in Canada, not sure thats true but they have about 35 tables.
I signed up along with my buddy for the 2/4 LHE game, and we got on a new table they opened up in about 20 minutes. I was suprised by how bad the players were, some were 3-betting and capping PF with anything suited, this one lady beside me never raised ever, even when she held overpairs.
Needless to say I was a little nervous, I knew I was better than these players but haven't played live in so long. I played fairly tight throughout the night, playing strong hands. I picked up my 1st pot from the BB where I called a raise into a 6 handed pot with K9s, and turned a flush, that relaxed me a bit.
I think the people at the table started to pick up on how tight I was playing compared to everyone else, and I started to pick up alot of smaller pots just by pre-flop raising and betting out.
I played for about 2-1/2 hours before my friends got bored and wanted to leave, but between solid play and a few very fortunate flops I came away up about 160$, can't complain about winning 40BB
