Default No glory in this story...

so i set out sunday 4.17.11 at 9 am to The Borgata casino in atlantic city, new jersey. aproximately 1.5 hrs away from my house. this will be my 2nd time to the borgata for $1/$2 nl hold em, and i was excited. had $160 to work with.
this was going to be my 2nd time playing in a live game. i am as fish as a fish can be... (just to keep the record straight) but i felt really good. felt like i had an understanding and a plan...
i was not prepared for what i encountered.
1st thing i notice is theres 3x as many people as there was the last time i went, (a month ago). the poker room (largest in A.C., 85+ tables) was jam packed. to the hilt. people were spilling out across the lobby. i found out later there was a River Chaser tourney going on. so many people... i paniced. i almost didnt even go in.
well i knucked up. gave my initials and waited. i cruised the room like all the books said. i watched big hands... just cruised ya know...
finally got a seat. i sat with $100 to start.
the cards were dealt... and bamm, i was instantly faced with complete aggressiveness. every blind was auto raised to $7. ok... tighten all games... play 10 top premium hands only preflop.
never got a premium hand... half stack gone... gotta loosen a bit maybe.
J4 suited. i decide to do the raise, i raise $7. 1 caller. flop J4Q. i says sweet, maybe hes AQ or something. $10... he calls. turn 2 i check. river 2. im like oh man... now im screwed... well no, i won the pot. now i have like $74. im like ok good lets work some more. next hand QQ
sweet. im in late position. all fold to me, i call. BB raises to $7, i RR to $20. he thinks a bit and calls. flop, 7 10 9 i dont know what to put him on im a fish but i dont think hed call $20 with J8 or 68 so i bet $20. he calls. turn a 4. i check, he checks. river 7. he checks so i bet all in. he calls and says show me the aces. i knew what that meant as he turned over his pocket Kings. i said thanks guys and walked off. wounded. only hand i get in 2 hrs gets cracked and gets me broke.
i rebought with my final $60 and got broke again without ever catching a face card. (like literally)
i meet up with my girlfriend whos playing some slots. we had lunch. she says how much is a buy in and it was $60 so she hands over 60 of her winnings to the lil poker addict. i head back in. lost that 60 as well to pure aggressiveness. every hand was raised and i just didnt get cards and if i finally called with like a K8 or a A6 suited... i'd miss the flop. and get bet into so i had to fold.what a sucky adventure. but in the end, i chalk it up as a $220 lesson. not sure how to handle all that aggressiveness but i tried. it just chisels ya down to broke though.
on the bright side of things... i did see the funniest thing ever for a card weight. this woman had a pair of brass nuts. (you know like nuts and bolts just no bolts.) it was very funny in my opinion.
    so theres my glory-less story.
    total live BR: -$360
    total online BR: -$65

First rule in live poker, never buy in the table minimum lol You always want your stack close to the opponents so they can't push you around. If you are at aggressive tables, try and ask the PMS hosts to move you around at their leisure haha Time and experience young grasshopper. Hon your skillz

to be honest, i buy in the table min in glasgows alea. people sit down with 400 quid and i buy in for 60. means if i get a big hand i can push all in and get a call, usually good but mind u i do get some sick beats. play low stakes online. full tilt 45 man are good to learn. 10 dollers in will last u 1 night of fun. cheap night out i like to think it as

I agree. I read you should have 25x the buy in in order to play at the table. And following that has worked for me, I've had plenty of room to make mistakes following that rule, and still be able to come back and break even or turn profit after another 5 hours total.

EDIT: btw, your girlfriend is awful nice to just give you 60 bucks to go back to gambling like that, especially knowing you blew the last of it so fast :P

Default A little left of center… A poker poem.

A fevered tone across your forehead.
    Out-played and by far, out-skilled…
    Your straight versus a flush,
Will send you straight out on tilt.

Time to clam up and regroup.
Lessons just aren’t free to learn.
    Pocket Queens this hole,
    Ignore the shoving all-in burn.

Chip in the pot a four bet,
    Await the response and play.
    Re-aised ten times your bet.
    Today just isn’t your day.

But that fevered tone across your forehead,
Wants to see an all in flop.
A call gets the cards face up,
His pocket kings make the fever HOT!

Ace, Duece, Ten land on the board.
The fever is now, feeling like a burn…
When the deck peels off a miracle,
A hot and sexy queen on the turn…

You cant help but crack a smile,
Thank you dealer, whispered from your mouth,
But then reality sets in when realizing,
He still has a chance with six outs.

    You inhale a deep breath,
While staring at the empty river spot.
When the worst of it all lands.
Jack o’ spades, he makes the gut-shot.
