I have a buddy who is a total maniac. He has a pretty heavy gambling problem. Most of it is online poker and sports betting. His bankroll suffers greater swings than anything I have ever seen because of his love for action.
I'm posting this here because it's his Glory today, and it kind of makes me sick.
This dude is NOT a good card player. He is just a total maniac. ATC is good for him and he can never get away from anything. Most days he blows through 200-500 in about an hour, but his days when he's a card rack he gets all the action he can handle. Today was one of those days.
He starts with $50 on a $1-$2 table and instantly doubles up to $100. In a matter of hands later he ships it in pre-flop again and doubles to $200. Not long after that he wins another race and takes it to $400. By this point he has shown that he is willing to go broke with any 2 overs, and small pair.
He moves his $400 over to a $3-$6 game and instantly gets involved in a pot with KJ vs QJ. Of course the flop comes JQK and he gets it in and takes $400 to $800. 2 hands later he gets KK and it holds for another $200. A few hands later he picks up AA and gets some guy OOP who continues to fire at him when the flop comes A77. River bricks and the villian check-folds to my buddies bet. He's now sitting with $1400.
WTF?? Seriously? How in the hell does a bad player run $50 to $1400 in a little over an hour? It really frustrates me because he feels like it vindicates him as a good player. This isn't the 1st disgusting run he's been on either, and after he hits it big, he has to brag to everyone how amazing he's doing. If you look at his yearly numbers he's down like 6K though.
The thing that bothers me the most is how he never tells stories about how he dropped $500 in an hour playing like a moron, or how he shipped $200 in on his 1st hand with 78h just because there was so much pre-flop action.
Ugh. My biggest night is cashing for $900 and I play EVERYDAY, yet this maniac can post $1400 wins.
