Default Pin the tail on the...

    Hee Haw!

I will pre-face this pot with a pot played 30 minutes earlier.

Live $1-$3 game. I'm stacked for roughly $300. My opponent has about the same.

I bump AK in position and get 2 callers. Flop comes 2 5 7 rainbow. Both players check to me and I make a continuation bet of $25. 1st player folds and the next guy goes in the tank. He's talking to himself under his breath trying to work it out, and then he makes the call.

I feel like he's calling me really light here, maybe 2nd pair, maybe a very weak top pair.

Turn comes Q. He checks again, and I fire $45. This time he calls a little quicker and I get the feeling that I'm not going to be able to win this pot.

River brings a K. Yahtzee! I feel like I just won this pot. He checks very quickly to me and I now go into the tank. I can't think of a single hand that I have beat that is going to pay me off with that river card so I check right back.

I expose my AK and he turns over KQ.

He rakes the pot and I let into him a little. I ask "what the hell are you calling for on the flop?"

He replies " Man, I just knew you didn't have shit, and you didn't, I was right. I figured you had something like that AK and you missed completely."

I then fire back "If you thought I had AK, then you are WAY behind!! You're on a 3 outer!"

He then gets pissed in return, saying that I'm a sore loser, blah blah blah. He knows I'm steaming and says "Well if I play so fucking bad, it won't be hard for you to get these chips then, will it?"

I stay quiet. Go off and smoke a cig and prepare for battle.

    30 minutes later....

K10 of hearts in the BB. Multiple limpers including my villian. I check my option and the flop comes 9 J Q with 2 diamonds. Major drawey board so I lead with the nuts, betting the pot which is $15.

I get 1 caller and then villian goes for chips. He decides that he's going to min-raise me to $30. I go into the tank for a bit trying to figure out what the hell kind of hand is min-raising here. I figure he's got to have 2 pair, a big Q, or a pair and a straight draw. I don't think he has a set unless he limped with 99, and if he had a set I think he would do more than min-raise on that wet board.

I announce raise now and go to $75. I don't want to run him off, but if he calls I want him to feel like he's stuck in this pot now. The other player folds and now this dude goes into the tank. After a minute or so he pushes out the additional $45.

    Turn : 10s.

I hate this card. He may have KQ and just hit the same straight that I'm holding. I feel it's also a scare card for him since now all it takes is an 8 or K for the straight. I decide that I need to make a bet that looks like a bluff. I only have $140 left, so I stack it all up and push it in.

He about loses his mind here. He works it out verbally for everyone to hear this time. He moans about how lucky I got if I'm holding a K, blah blah blah. After a while he stacks the $140 up and checks the rest of his stack. Eventually another player at the table calls "clock" and it's only 15 seconds later that he pushes it in.

I stand up and slam my cards face up and announce "Fucking ship it"!!

He tables Q8. He hit the perfect turn card for me to get paid.

All he has to say now is "nice hand".

nice hand, I love being able to get back donkies (especially with bluffs though ) you might want to work on your etiquette a little bit tho. however his statement to your asking him why he called on the flop is ridiculous if he indeed put you on AK.

Honestly I dont know what came on the river. Brick.

As far as my etiquette goes... nah.

I felt fine with the way it went down and was intending on putting him on a little tilt.

i know it actually saved you money to check, but river in the first hand should be a very standard value bet

nice job busting him later on though, that hand was wp

Nice, but I'm surprised at your reaction at the end. You always struck me as a very cool calm player. If this was to get him on tilt then OK, but otherwise I think a pro like you shouldn't go all Hellmuth during a hand.

    Thank you sir.

The reason I didn't fire another bullet was because I was severly confused in the hand. I also couldn't think of a single hand that he could call me all the way down with that I had beat. It felt very trappy to me, I don't know why.

I also considered the size of the pot to already be decent, and if I had sucked out on the river with that K I was happy to check back and take the pot down.

I've actually always been a very verbally berating player since I learned the game.

It was only about a year ago that I learned it's better to let the fish be fish after a suck out, rather than barking at them.

In this particular scenario though a verbal beat down was in order. Plus he still had a decent stack, and I was really hoping those chips would end up in the middle very light in the next 30 minutes.
