Default 500 buy in becomes 7200!

I don't know what the time limit is on posting these things. But, this is a fun story (and NO, ATE don't make NOTHING up, EVER)

That shows how REAL poker games are a pure JOY (as opposed to modern LUCKER games)

Back in 2003, I moved to Anchorage Alaska. My best friend heard that he could make 80-100 an hour , dealing the games. I had talked to the same guy he did, like ten years before. AND, he gave the same figures. Well, people tend to NOT remember their lies or their exaggerations.

So, he g ave it a try. I was living in a home for disabled persons, while he was getting established.

After three months, he had work at three different games. So, I used my whole monthly income on the plane ticket.

Arrived there, and about a week later, Randy staked me in one of the games there,'

Originally, he just put me in for the Early bird special (Ed note: for those not familiar, a few places will give you extra chips to help start the game. Others places offer this ONLY to first time players.

Which, was 150 for only 100. Well, after a while this super live one guy (known in YOUR language as a "donk") sits down with 500

Not wanting me to lose out if I nailed the guy, Randy brings up my stack to 500.

Built up to like 2k, and then was the pivitol pot.

Ooops, first some background on the game. Most of the games in the semi-underground Anchorage circuit, were dealer's choice. With a new pick every round.

2 3 5 blinds, pot limit with NO max. This night, the average person had like 300-500 (later on) but a couple had 2k-4k

Anyway, this pick is HIGH omaha.

I had a doule suited AA hand, and made it like 35 or so to go.

The pot was like 170, and I hit the nut flush draw, with a backdoor second flush draw. the flop was like 3 5 7.

Well, all the money gets in, and the guys shows a straight about ONE second before the turn comes out with my flush!

    Something like 1800 pot.

And, it just went on from there. WHAT A RUSH! The floorlady had to stand behind me all the time, constantly changing in the masses of five buck chips, so they didn't run out.

I was so afraid that they would not cash me out(it WAS an illegal game, so what could I do if they did not)

That I wanted to be extra nice.

50 buck tips to the waitress (owners' sister)
    100 dollar dealer tips
I even tipped 100 to the HOUSE, in splite of having the WORLD'S BIGGEST RAKE BY FARRRRRRRRRRRRR! (ATE once paid 185 yes, ONE HUNDRED EIGHTY FIVE dollars in rake in ONE pot)

At best, I thought that they would not let me play again.

So, I BLEW about ONE THOUSAND in tips. Oh well, Randy got about 300 of that, so it was not a total loss (Ed note, remember thatexcessive t ipping is a potential MAJOR leak, so DONT" DO IT)

The owner then sits down, when I had around 9k in chips, with 10k AND worse: position on me.

Prior to that event, the worst that could happen is the 4k dude (a known bookie) nails me, and I still leave with 4k profit.

BUt, now that someone could match me, I was no longer comfortable.

So, I blinded off for four hours, costing a COOL grand. Played a few hands until the flop, 20 here, 30 there.

Finally, with 7k+ profit still in my stack, I decided to see if they would cash me out.

Lady has this fanny pack with bundles of 2 grand each.

    Pays me off.

Owed Randy some money, so I got like 3k out of the profit.

Which, funded my life for the next 8 months in Anchorage. well, that and another 1500 win.

Dang, how I LOVED my Anchorage.

They say I did not lose a pot for a full hour, and that is only a slight exaggeration.

I never even made a big hand, just had moderate ones stand up.

$1,000 in tips? How would you like to come over to my place and I'll pour you a glass of wine?

    ^Thinks overtipping is pretty cool.

Then again, my mother used to be a waitress, and I don't play live poker.
