    Default My Punching Bag

    Ah what an epic night.

It's getting late, roughly 2 AM, and I've put in a 4 hour session at the Horseshoe's $1-$3 game. I usually go home about this time, but 3 gangsterish looking black dudes all come in together. They appear to be slightly intoxicated. All 3 of them have gold fronts.

I consider that I've already had a decent night. I'm up $125 and I can just go home and get some decent sleep. Then I see all those gold fronts and I can't help but think that anyone with gold teeth is NOT smart enough to play good poker.

    So I stick around...

Eventually, we're down to only 1 - $1-$3 table left, and we've got all 3 of these dudes at the table. This is where it turns insane!!

This game starts to play like $10-$20. Opening bets are a standard $20-$40, and there is multi caller and re-raising action. I'm seeing people using squeeze plays out of the SB with A10 off. Pretty retarded action.

I decide to just sit back and wait. These guys are either constantly snapping someone off, or shipping their stack and re-buying. I don't intend to contribute, I just want to get all that money.

I become impatient after about an hour of watching $500 pots shift from 1 player to the next. Raggy hands seem to be winning massive pots left and right. I realize that I'm going to need to open up my range pre-flop a lot more to get some of that action.

    Hand #1
I limp in early position with A5 of clubs. A few limpers following and 1 of the brothas opens for $20. Player to my right calls, I call, player behind me calls. 4 to the flop for $80 pot.

Flop comes 7 3 2 with 2 clubs. I have flopped a freaking monster draw here. Player to my right checks, and I think about a strong semi-bluff here, but fear some kind of crazy all in madness behind me, which I don't want to have to face without having a made hand. I elect to just check.

Player to my left checks, and the brotha makes a continuation bet of $60 instantly!! Player to my right folds, and I'm pretty sure the player to my left is also going to surrender. $60 to call to win $140. Not quite the greatest of odds, but I don't care at this point. I make the call.

Yahtzee! The turn brings the 10 of clubs. I see my opponent already getting all his chips stacked into 1 tower to push all in. I decide to go ahead and check to him and let him hang himself. He shoves, I insta call not even caring what he'd holding.

He shows KQ of clubs. YIKES!! What an awful spot for him. All in the 2nd nut drawing completely dead. S H I P I T!!!

I empty him out for roughly a total of $320. I only had him covered by $7. He re-buys and goes on the sickest freaking heater I've seen in a while. He runs $200 up to $1000 in like 6 hands. He flops a Q high club flush with the A of clubs behind him and K of clubs with top pair behind him. He ends up tripling up in that pot when K of clubs makes an insane turn re-raise and gets into a 3 way all in. THIS TABLE IS SICK.

Well, this dude ends up making a terrible call with AQ on a 9 7 4 board when a player goes all in for $160 with 44. He then gets all pissed and starts bitching at the player for calling $120 pre-flop with 44. It was actually kind of a bad call, especially out of position, but technically with a pair he had the best hand. After that flop he's golden and gets action from freaking ace high. The brotha is now sitting at around $650 which is exactly how much I have...

    Hand #2
I now have 44 in early position. I limp in with a few others and this dude pumps it to $25 from the CO. Player to my right calls and then I call. Now when I make this call, I understand that this dude probably has a real hand. I intend to check fold to just about any action on the flop if I don't flop a 4. I'm merely calling on the strength of my implied odds with this guy in the hand.

Flop comes K 9 4 with 2 diamonds. UH OH. Big freaking trouble for my buddy with position. Player to my right checks and I check right behind him. I know from 2 previous hands earlier tonight that this guy bets every hand, even his draws. He hammered in position with KQ of clubs on the draw against me, so I'm fairly certain that if he has 2 diamonds, he'll fire at this pot and open it up to me.

On course, he does bet. He grabs chips without counting and slams them into the pot. His bet ends up being $75. Player to my right folds and I go into the tank for a little bit. I announce "$250" and push nearly half my stack into the pot. I watch his reaction intently. I want to discern right now whether he has a pair or a draw. He asks how much more it is to him and begins to count it down. He stacks up the $175 for the call, and looks at how much he has left behind him, and for a moment it looks as though he might fold. He elects to call though and I'm now certain that he doesn't have diamonds. I felt that he would either re-shove or insta call with a diamond draw.

Turn comes a Q of hearts and I move the rest of my stack in, nearly $350. I know he's not capable of laying down AK here. If he has KQ he's definetely not folding, and if he has AA there's NO WAY he's getting away. After a moment of deliberation he makes the call and shows me AK, drawing dead AGAIN.

Dealer ships me a $1300 pot. I break this idiot off twice. He spent the entire night beating everyone else at the table and collecting their chips. He then promptly turned them over to me.

    Sucka!

I'm guessing it will be a while before those guys have their wounds licked and come back.

They were probably into that $1-$3 game for a combined $900-$1200. There was also another player at the table who is actually a pretty goodl player who had his nose open. He was in for $800.

Lots of good rakeback options at http://www.rakeguard.com/?raf=KRE8R

KRE8R probably has about seventy college funds in his NL5 roll.

It is a soft play, but I was happy not taking a lead in this pot in early position.
