Default 2nd Place. Yay me.

Gratuitous congratulations to myself.

2nd in a $50/5 210 man MTT on Party for $1627

Got ahead of the average early and ground it out to the final table.

5th in chips with 5 left and stole my way to the Heads Up.

Had a 9 to 1 disadvantage at one point and clawed back to the lead when this happened.

lsmoot shows two pairs, aces and fours.
Irexes shows two pairs, jacks and fours.
lsmoot wins 194304 chips from the main pot with two pairs, aces and fours.

I worked back a little bit with the few chips I had but he got me.

Thouroughly good fun, if a little bit of a sting to drop the $1200 extra for first.

Huzzah.

Awesome Irexes! I'd love to start tackling those limits...sadly I'm still playing 5 + 10 dollar ones

Still, it's great to hear, your club team loses, but you win!

Congrats, Irexes. I have won a tourney since the summer and I have 7 2nd's since then. It's gotta be a bit frustrating, but still a nice score. I can understand if there's a bit of bittersweetness in your mouth, but give yourself a big pat on the back.

When do you play on Party?

Diggler,
When you can build the roll for it, it's actually easier to cash in the top 4-5 in the $50 and $100 MTT's than than the others. Even the $30 MTT's are becoming minefields. Unless you play a ton of tournaments, there is a very small margin of error to get an adequate ROI.

*sigh* I'm noticing, I actually played on PS tonight 3 - 5 dollar SNG's (2 Table NLHE), and a Heads Up...Gettin a lot of calls from guys with terrible cards most of tonight, but I have to stick it out for just a bit longer i think until I'm ready to go with a bigger BR...thanks for the input, I often try to watch the big games too see if the play by the "book" even after going through HEPFAP and SS2 lately, I find that most people don't even understand position when they are playing. I hope the habits I am forming now, aren't going to give me hard time when I actually look to move into bigger games..

Thanks chaps.

It was bittersweet, but I was pleased with the heads up cause I came back from such a deficit and had a great read on the guy so was able to pick my spot and unfortunately it didn't hold up. At least I get to talk about the hand that cost me $1200 when exchanging hard luck stories with other poker players.

I usually play the $30/3s on Party (late evening GMT 5 hours ahead of EST), with the big fields (700-800) and you're right that the play is a minefield. If you get ahead early it's possible to make a push for the finish but you really need good cards far more than at the higher buy-ins to really stand a chance. I can fairly consistently make the money at the things, but it requires a fair bit of luck and a couple of coin-flips. Last night I was able to make it all the way through without really taking any big gambools (having played a few of the $200/15 tourney after winning qualifiers I found this to be even more the case at those levels).

The other thing was the smaller field. I work on the basis of aiming for 10% of the chips to reach the final table and then basically stop playing unless l hit a monster til I get there. With 800 people that's a lot harder than achieving the 21,000 I needed last night. I think I may look for this type of tourney more often.

This effectively doubled my career profit in one hit and as someone who plays for the entertainment with the illusory prospect of one day scoring the big one this was wonderfully encourang and most importantly great fun.

And I've had all of 2 hours sleep as a result

Just got to hope that the curse of being bottom at Christmas ensures WBA go down Smithy.

Be a shame to see the Saints out of the top flight

Great job man.

Do you think the all-in was smart when your oppenent had 24x or so the BB?

Seems like a 4x raise would be better. I would probably have played it the same, but I wonder if that is the best play?
