First of all, you need to stop with the min-raising. Raise that up to $4-5. Second, you should not be calling an all-in with AKo in a cash game, especially that big of a bet. You were behind going in and hit. That's all.

Preflop Reraise of $3-$4 would be enough, I htink $5 is a bit of overkill.

You're wrong though AT. This is a 5 handed cash game for under 80bb. AKo is a very clear all in hand against all but very passive players. We can see any pocket pair, AQ and maybe even any ace here.

I like $3.50 and calling the shove.

Wota, 5 handed with JJ in this spot how do you feel about raising up to $4.50-5 and calling a shove?

EDIT: apologies if I've hijacked the thread, lol.

Hmm, you guys are calling this all-in? I'm not very good at these NL games, but I'm a bit surprised by that. I guess it makes sense being a 5 handed game.

Well for the sake of this discussion I will have to assume we have repopped to $4 since this makes the pot odds somewhat more realistic to how we would play.

Effective stack at the start of the hand is $18.65.

Opponent opens to $1 on the button. We have no stats or read to work with but assuming he has a PFR of even just 10% his button opening range is pretty wide which means a repop here is likely to result in either taking the pot down PF or on the flop if called very frequently so a reraise to $4 is clearly correct and has a +EV against any average opponent.

Now when we get reraised all in we will be required to put $14.65 into a pot of $22.90 (His entire $18.65 + our $4 reraise + 25c BB). This gives us pot odds of just over 3:2 or 1.5:1 and so we require 40% for a breakeven call.

Again we have no read here but using PokerStove:
- If we give him a range as tight as JJ+ and AK we will have 40% equity if we call with AKo so I think it's a no-brainer call against all but the most passive players.
- If we give him a range of 99+ and AQ+ we have almost 50% pot equity and a profitable call.

For David:

Same situation with JJ:

We have slightly less equity against the tightest range of JJ+ and AK here - just 36%.
Give him a range of 99+ and AQ+ and we have 47% equity and a clear call.

This would be very different at a low stakes 9-10 handed online game since alot of opponents pushing range is literally just AA and KK. 5 handed you just cant fold AK for 80bb against an aggresive or unknown in my opinion. If you do you will get run over.
