Two good hands in a local live game
The game is a 100-300 live game with blinds being 1-2, no limit. I bought in for a hundred and proceed to get hammered when I had a set and a straight to a guy catching river flushes both times. So I am down to about $40 and UTG. I look down and see I have Aces, but decide against raising and do the dangerous limp well aware of what I was in for if everyone just called, but a guy in mp raised to 7 and there were three callers, then it gets back to me and I push all in and get one caller who had A-Q and they held up. I knew it was a risk limping but it worked out well.
Later on I was dealt pocket queens and raised to $6 as the table had tightened up a bit. There were four of us in the hand at the time, the flop came up 9-j-9 I everyone checked except for the button, and he bet $25. I thought for a minute and announced raise, and put in an additional $48 that put him all in and he called. What did he have? K-Q! Another Q on the turn gave me the boat and I took it down.
I am normally more of a tournament player, this was only the 4th or 5th time playing a live game, but it was a good experience.
