I was up and down in small amounts for the first two hours. Lost a $700 or so NL pot, but I was catching cards in Stud8 and scooped 3 nice pots. Then I lost $1000 to a bigger boat in a PLO pot and I was a bit disappointed. But I got the button the next hand.
For people who don't know, in the CO, button, and late mid (depending on who's behind me) I raise the pot almost every hand I play in PLO before the flop. So I was in the CO with:
Bad hand, but only "PokerStar" limping for $10 in the middle, so I raised the pot to $45. Button and SB fold. BB calls as does PokerStar. The BB's a strong solid player, but PokerStar was all over in PLO and overplayed a hands that contained AA and KK last week, but he was catching onto wraps being strong. He never raised PF, though.
Flop:
Oh shit! I'm in so much trouble and I knew it. There was $140 in the pot, so I threw in a $100 bet. BB raised it up to $340 and PokerStar bet the cap to $955. OK. Not bad against the BB. I figured him for Q9 with a KJ, AK, or J8. I was afraid of PokerStar having JJXX, or worse- JJXX. My set was fucked because I could very well have dead outs, but the pot was so big.
I hate when people take a long amout of time and this took me about a minute, mostly 'cause I'd just lost a grand 2 minutes ago and I shouldn't have even played this hand.
So, I called the $855 to me as did the BB. $3k and some change in the pot and the BB asks if I wanna go twice. I said, "Sure."
PokerStar goes, "I have the undeniable nuts" and shows AT98ds but no diamonds and I said, "Gary's got a Q9 down there somewhere." and he flips the Q987 with the 7 of diamonds.
So I'm not in as bad shape as I thought. After, it was hard to not think the worst after getting rivered and losing $1k such a short time ago. PokerStar said "Fine." to running it twice and I felt bad for the guy. He misread the board and had a "good" starting hand.
So, back to the hand. I have 3 live Jacks, an 8, and 7 more diamonds out there for 11 outs. Nice.
1st run:
Turn:

River: blank
So, I have my money back with a $500 profit. Sweet. I'm down.
2nd run
Turn:

giving Gary the King hi straight.
River:

giving me another full house and runner-runner at that.
I just said, "Wow" with one of those smiles so big that I could feel myself almost pulling a muscle because that was so fucked up and Gary's a great sport and actually said after the turn, "Watch another King pop out." He's a gamer, did well for the rest of the night, but it put him in the red on the session. We both left the table around the same time and I bought him a drink. I hate taking pots like that off of him where we're both making the right moves when the money's getting implanted in the middle. He really is a great friend and has been like a mentor to me for well over a year and staked me in this game for 2 months when I took a large portion of my roll away for other ventures.
So, there it was. The biggest pot I've won in a really, really long time in that game. I had to tip the dealer a $100 black after that. I'm usually only tip a red when they switch out, but I was definitely on a high
