Turn: (t720) (2 players)
Hero bets t330, Calling Station calls t330.
River: (t1380) (2 players)
Hero bets t450, Calling Station calls t450.
Final Pot: t2280
Results in white below:
Calling Station has 4c Qs (three of a kind, fives).
Hero has Qc Qd (full house, fives full of queens).
Outcome: Hero wins t2280.
He called me down all the way with Q4o!!! I could tell this guy was brutal prior to this, but I didn't know it was this bad. He's the kind of guy you just sit there hoping it's you who picks up a hand and can build your stack on and not someone else.
I thought I had him earlier with a set of 9s in a 3 way pot, but he folded when I raised on the flop because of flush and straight draws possible for the other guy. I wonder what he was holding there that he would actually fold if he wouldn't lay down Q4!

Hey now, that's some general poker discussion right there.
Anyhow, it's a good thing I won that 45 player SNG, or I'd be much more pissed about the rest of the beats I been getting.
Down to 4 in this one, short stack limps from SB, I have 85. Flop J85. He bets, I put him all in, call, turns over JT. Turn T. I knew it was coming, but it still hurt. Made me horrendously short stack and was gone 2 hands later when I pushed with K7 and found JJ.
Even worse because now that I'm out I have to right this essay about how a short story made me feel. GAWD.

I would have bet the pot on the turn.

Hey
Nice hand, lol that guy has some skills
Btw if i was running this hand i would have bet to him on the flop to check if he had the 5 or not and then if i had established he didn't my usual tacktic would be to slowly get him used to the pot since you know you have the nuts, and there is little chance of him drawing out on you, say betting a fairly large amount on the turn then if he's still in and i know he's a calling station put him in for a lot.
Is this correct?
Maybe, im too used to limit and i let people get cheap cards which could beat me too much rather than just trying to get them out of the pot early.
Or would it be better to bet large and prevent him from say catching and king or an ace?
thanks
(sorry for thread hijack i was just thinking about this)

Not a thread hijack Tom. Sometimes conversations that start in one direction head in another for any number of reasons.
But the responses in this thread have got me thinking about my bet sizes. Flop and turn about half the pot (little less on turn) seemed right. There's a flush draw on the turn, but I have a boat. I think I am looking for a call there, not to bet the pot and end the hand. I mean, at these $5 levels, it seems a pot size bet is a bet that weak opponents have some respect for and might think you are serious and go away. But I am open to dissenting opinions.
I am going to be a little more stubborn about the river bet. I think that was a pretty good size to get somebody with AK or AQ to still call. Typical value bet on the river, no?
