i dont really like any of these raises.

especaily the one with 33. how do you "know" he has a big pair. his flop bet could be a cb, he could have ak, aq, he could have 66, tt, etc.

think about it this way. you are allready going to get good action from AA, KK, and maybe QQ NO MATTER HOW YOU PLAY IT, but most other hands fold. so why not play it in a way that gets action from other hands as well, such as 77, 99, AK.

raise on the flop is fine! just raise enough so he can at least consider playing a smaller pair. the only thing calling that bet of yours is a huge hand.

I'm gonna respond to your post in the "bluffing preflop" thread as not to hijack it.

Your totally right, raising 35s UTG is -EV no matter how you look at it, silly move pf by me, but ignoring that, I feel I played it really well post-flop.

The 33 hand - I really was very certain of a call. 95% of the time I flop a set I'm not pushing so hard, so I can get full value out of the hand, but this time I was confident in my read.

Any post which you feel the need to say "if you ignore my preflop play...." is kind of missing the point.

If you ignore Hitler's nazi ideology you can compliment him on making the trains run on time.

That's right, I'm comparing raising 35s with genocide.

hand 2, I think you might wanna set up you river bluff with a raise on the turn. otherwise i fold b/c while i believe xray has air, SIGCRILL might be slowplaying. so a turn raise might clear the picture up.

hand 3. unless your playing against a smart player (and he might be from looking @ stack), you really dont wanna min raise when bluffing.

other than that good job. this really shows how when you are the preflop agressor, you get alot more respect. very nice. and laggy. good to see a lag amungst all the tightasses.

I dont think I missed the point at all. I fully admited that raising 35s was a mistake, but that doesnt mean we cant analylize the rest of the hand. Do we just stop discussing a hand at the first mistake?

good lag plays.

exept next time try to steal it off the flop

and if called contiue the bluff on any sort of scared card ...A,K, FLUSH POSS, STR8 POSS, TRIPS.

or if u sense weakness in the call...ya therse such things.

most the time u should give up by river its -ev unless you think he was on a draw then throw out a cheap bet...but not some like 10% cheap bet.

just enough to make him fold for sure on a draw.

No, we criticise the mistake and think of all the times that it was punished compared to the rare occassion it pays off.
