Default My trip to FL

So ignoring why I went down there, while I was there I got invited to a poker game. thinking that it would be good for my state of mind to concentrate on something else I went. I didn't have any cash (living off credit cards while down there) my best friend agreed to stake me for 1/2 my winnings which I thought was a great deal...

The game was going to be a variation of limit with $.25/$.50 blinds, $1 limit bet on PF to turn and $2 on the river (you can bet any amount from the BB to the limit for that street). Min buy in was $20. My friend discussed it and he said that he had 3 buy ins for each of us and if we lose that we need to leave the table (couldn't agree more) and it was a semi-friendly game with him knowing everybody and having played with them all before and me knowing about 1/2 the people. The original plan called for 9 people to play but because of people coming and going, we never had more then 6 people at the table at a time (glad I had started playing 6max before I left, I would have been uncomfortable with the subtle differences had I not).

Game started when we had 4 people but soon moved to 5 quickly. While everybody was drinking I made up my mind that I would nurse a beer for a bit then drink water...repeat...I knew that John was the only person to really respect at the table (my best friend) and that he was capable of switching between LAG/TAA/LPP with no warning to keep people guessing. I also know that he would automatically put me on TAA until I proved differently. I was super pleased when he sat down to my right...I had planned for him to sit there anyway, but he did it with out me having to manipulate the table.

I started out super TAA and pretty much watched what everybody else was playing while I folded hand after hand and only raising the monsters. After about 3 hrs John and I were the big stacks and they just kept rising...The only hands we played together were over on the flop...After about 6 hrs I had dominated the table to the point where people would usually just fold PF if I raised (I had a stack of about $50 at this point). I guesstmated that we were playing about 20hands and hr (Being a little low because of the chit-chatting and getting up to get drinks and such) so I figured I was doing about 10bb/hr and up about 50bb/100.

At about the 6hr mark I also decided that I could beat these guys blind and stopped my nurse a beer/drink water routine and could start drinking and having fun...People also started commenting on how I wasn't drinking (those who knew me knew this was odd) and how tight I was playing. There were several notable hands which I won't go into here (I may post a couple for stratagy section) but one noticable situation occured when I was the SB (John was the Button)...

Folded to cut-off who limped, button raises $.50, I Look and see AA so I reraise $1. BB folds, CO folds, button rechecks his cards and raises $.50 (capping the raising) (I put him on a bluff or a Axs at this point) and I call.

Flop comes down Axx rainbow. I bet $1, he raises $1 without looking I reraise $1 and he checks his cards one more time and folds (offering me $1 to see my cards which I agree to). He then goes on a tirade of how I can keep playing my tight ass style and he'll dominate me (let's forget that he hasn't been able to do that all night). He reminded me that this was live poker and you needed to be able to play the people not the cards....

The following revolution, it gets folded to him on the button and he raises. I know this could be just a position raise and he could be trying to steal the blinds. I look down and see 73o and decide to play the person so I reraise. BB folds and he calls.

Flop comes Axx with 2 hearts. I check, he bets $1 and I raise $1, he raises $1 and I call...Turn is another heart and I bet $1, He checks his cards and stares at me for a moment and says "I can't be the flush" and Flips his cards face up into the muck (he had AQo no hearts) I turn over my 73 and quietly ask him if that was playing the person well enough or do I need more practice Ok, that was a dickish thing to do but damn it, I knew I Could out play him if I had to...

Over all, I ended the night with $97 in my stack...after 12hrs. I took two bad beats when my top trips got beat by a rivered flush (it happens) and some donk cold called my raise PF with Q3 and rivered 2 pair to bust my AA...

Over all, great night had a lot of fun and am looking forward to getting to a casino...

Welcome back Trons...(although I said that in another thread already but what the hell ). Nice win...it's always great to hear stories about people at a table explaining to you how you should be playing. when they're playing against you.

I know I mentioned it, but I was super impressed with my ability to sit at the table for 12hrs and not get off my game. About 8hrs into it, John actually a slightly bigger stack then me, but his ability to play went down hill fast...he lost his entire stack (to the donks) and then proceeded to lose another buy-in (I just slid him $20 from my stack) before we called it a night...at 06:00...
