Hi. im new here and would like a few judgements on a play i was involved in yesterday. Its an stt and i got about 3000 (20 times the big blind) i get A J off and raise to 400. a low stack raises about another 600 so he's all in and 1 other calls plus myself. I flop two pair Ace an jack. the pots quite large and i check. all others check. 7 comes on turn, and i make a tiny bet of about 200. other player goes all in and i call. Hes got trip 7s. Is this my fault for slow playing or just bad luck??? I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks very much. Jamie

I would'nt say 100% your fault... 99% would be more accurate!

I'm kidding with you, but never slow play 2 pairs, especaily when Str8 draw is on board and you are up against 2 opponents. Even with a player all-in, I would have bet that, as you said the pot was really large VS blinds and your stack, and if a T, Q or K hit the turn for example, it will be very hard for you to lay it down when your opponent go all in. Even more if a 7 hit eh???
Not the worst play I ever seen, but definately not a good one!
Keep the faith!

Thanks for that KJ. I figured i was wrong to slow play seeing as the pot was so large. I should have took it down there and then. (Maybe im too greedy?) Saying that, when the 7 came, and not a pic or 10 for the straight I felt pretty (very!) strong. Trips are hard to work out, right?
