I would call.
Your call lets him know you have a very good hand so he will be rather apprehensive of betting into you on the flop if he has AK/JJ. His bet is a little on the large side for 1 opponent (I'll rule out the limper from calling), so I wouldn't immediately feel he has AA or KK. I think his range of hands could be quite large (especially depending on your table image at the moment)
You have position, this goes along with my first point.
Your in the area of 5 to 1 pot odds which when combined with the times you have the best hand makes the call correct from a mathematical standpoint.Read my musings on poker and life at Online Poker Examiner, Poker Examiner, PokerNewsBoy.com, and My Poker Blog

I call!
Very big raise! Look supicious... ouf course he can have AA or KK, but that bet also tell me he probably dont want to see a flop. That pretty much exclude AA IMO.
JJ, TT, AK and KK are much more probable holding I think.

I think the sites you guys play at are a lot different than the one I play at (pokerroom.) Most of the time someone does this at pokerroom, they're showing down a monster. And like I said, he turned over KK.

The key word is MOST of the time. when you couple that with your chances of outflopping him your odds are pretty good.
The pot + the chance to stack him off is $29.95 and you have to call $3.75 so you are getting 8 to 1 implied odds on your call. Even if you think he has KK or AA you can make acase for calling, if you think you have the best hand even 10% of the time you should definetly call this bet. Pot odds baby, and this is an example of implied odds, how many people are gonna lay down AA or KK on a q84 board?
The fact that he showed KK doesn't change my reasoningRead my musings on poker and life at Online Poker Examiner, Poker Examiner, PokerNewsBoy.com, and My Poker Blog

Steve: How many times are we laying down QQ on a 248 board?
With no reads, like you gave us, I think a call is good. With reads both folding and raising can be correct.“There's no sense in being precise when you don't even know what you're talking about.” - John von Neumann

Thats where position comes in and enhancing your initial read. Too many people say "he has xx" and play on no matter what. I would call with AA and KK as prime candidates along with AK, JJ, TT, and even lesser hands as possibilities. so if he bets huge i will probably fold. But with position and your overcall he may get very nervous of betting into you say on an A 4 8 board with KK.Steve: How many times are we laying down QQ on a 248 board?Read my musings on poker and life at Online Poker Examiner, Poker Examiner, PokerNewsBoy.com, and My Poker Blog
