I've looked for stuff to improve my game heads up in cash/tourney games, but can't find alot. Does anyone know where i can find articles, or books that go into some kind of depth regarding heads up play?

We've had a couple good threads.
Usually other posters go beyond my very accurate and simple advice. Which is: Raise.Marm is back, maybe. Been off for 3 years. Rusty as Hell.

Harrington basically has the same advice as Marm just in more detail. He talks alot about the likelihood of being dealt certain types of hands outs these in several groups.
Personally I suck Headsup, and I have followed all the super aggressive strategies an d alot of the time i find that I just run into bigger hands far too much i.e. AQ v Ak with a rainbow A59 board.
Its a totally different game. Most sites had 1x1 sngs for as little as /50c my advice is play as much headsup as you can. I found that where I made the final 2 of a trouney but was the shortstack i was struggling so I used to play 1x1 for $2 and lose a couple of hands on purpose to replicate teh scenario.

Also have two or three plans: The startegy you follow should be dictated by your first few starting hands - If you get nothing then fold - let the guy think you are WT and let him bet into you. If you get AA, KK QQ a few times early - hit the all-in button - look loose and agressive (then play tight to value).
I played a guy on Poker room this morning who was pretty good - and he did the right thing which was to consider going right the the end of the blinds - he had a long term view of the game and didn't go for the quick kill (neither of us had the cards..) I eventually pushed with 85 suited with blinds half my stack .. I think after 15 minutes we both knew that was going to happen - oh yes - I lost
HU is fun.. you need to play it well to progress to higher limits where blind fights are the order of the day..See me playing $10/$20NL like it was play money

raise preflop so that when you bluff it is credible.
set up your bluffs. usually my bluffs take 2 streets, or preflop and flop. im not just gunna chek it down to the river and then bet pot @ end.
dont play stupid with A2-A6.
adjust your play.I get more ass than a toilet seat. All shapes/colors/sizes.

just so you know, the likleyness of this happening heads up is extremely slim.

furthermore, the value of flopping top pair head up is equivilant to flopping a set at a 10 handed table. moral of the story is, it sounds like you have nothing to worry about, thats just bad luck.
the most important part of heads up is position, and betting according to it. raise higher PF when you arent on the button. you will take down blinds more and partailly negate your poor position post flop. on the button, you can raise a bit less, because you have the luxury of acting last post flop. basically, heads up is more about chip stack, position, blinds, and balls(agression) than the cards you hold. but a big hand is nice, typically by the time you actually pick up a hand you appear super agressive, and frequently you will get paid off by somone making a move.
