    Default 88 in the CO

Ultimate Bet No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t60 (8 handed) converter

    MP1 (t3945)
    MP2 (t1170)
    TheRog (t1645)
    Button (t2720)
    SB (t1500)
    BB (t1410)
    UTG (t885)
    UTG+1 (t1725)

Preflop: TheRog is CO with , .
3 folds, TheRog calls t60, 1 fold, SB completes, BB checks.

    Flop: (t180) , , (4 players)
SB checks, BB bets t60, TheRog raises to t170, SB folds, BB calls t110.

    Turn: (t520) (3 players)
BB checks, TheRog bets t520, BB folds.

    Final Pot: t1040

Flop: I'm raising here to see what he's made out of... I'm thinking a weak jack or six here.

Turn: The check here is one of 2 things...weakness or a trap. I really don't think this is a trap, and I doubt he's calling this with weak Jack or a 6.

    What do you guys think?

    Did I donk this up?

I would say you played that as well as you could have. I think 520 may be a bit of an overbet being as early as it is and the fact that it is a third of your stack but over all good play.

would anyone raise pre flop? either youre winning and are vulnerable to overcards being caught (I think BB has J rag), or you're drawing a 2 outer. with lots of limpers I'd be happy drawing a set but with everyone folding in front of you Im looking to let as few people as possible into the hand and if the turn doesnt show an overcard, bet big and win the pot there and then is this incorrect?

Nice hand. However, I don't even think villain had a jack, or he might've called.

Why the weak ass limp? Raise it like you got AQ. Take those blinds and be happy. You don't want to go into the flop flyying blind as to their holdings.

    I don't like raising here.

Steal the blinds? Not worth it...

Risking 3-5xBB to win 1.5xBB dosn't seem worth it.

I'd rather take a cheap flop and have a shot at a nice sized pot than risk a nice amount of chips and be called or reraised by a dominating hand.

Don't raise and if the flop comes 246, that 62o in the BB just takes your stack. Stealing the blinds is VERY important to tourny play. Thats the only way you stay afloat. I can see trapping with AA or KK, but with 88? That's going to cost you a LOT of chips soon. first to open the pot in the CO, you should be playng 75o the same as 88 or AQ... Raise.

I agree with marm...at this point, with 88, I'm raising PF and weary of anybody who calls...I'd raise a good 4xbb or better...and be happy with the blind steal. If BB feels froggy and wants to defend his cards, you probably still have him beat.

I would say that BB didn't have a J or anything when he bet into you on the flop. My guess is he was trying to buy the pot guessing that it missed everybody like it missed him...calling your raise tells me he has an overcard and wants to hit it on the turn...when he doesn't and you bet as much as he does, he figures he's out of here. He may have even had an A and thought it was good on the flop...no way of really telling, but if he had a J and he donked it like that then he desearves to lose the pot...

Absolutly right on - with only the button and blinds left to bet, you should have raised it up to 3xBB b/c:
    1. establishes strengh (real or preceived)
    2. could very well buy you the button
    3. good chance to steal without a fight
    4. will likely have the flop check into you if called so you can contuation bet and steal a missed board. Any re-action and you get out quick with minimal damage.
