$55 SnG - third level
I really like this play and it's a staple for me in building my stack with low risk. Anyone agree or disagree?

in a tourney situation i'm usually a fan.
Not so much in a cash game because you've still only got the 6 basic outs particularly with unsuited AK.
With this hand i prefer to see a flop(i'll raise pre flop). If i catch the flop and it's pretty ragged, then i'm in and raising. If it's a flush draw flop then i'll throw in a big scare raise, and if there are any takers and that flush hits, im long gone.
if i don't hit the flop and there's a raise, im out- that's why i like Ace King, you either have it or ya dont.
Still i'd rather see a flop with this hand, especially when there are 4 players in there because you can bet that your 6 big outs just got cut to at least 4 or 5 when there's more than 3 in the pot.
what does everyone else think about this hand?

(Just to note that this is a strategy I only employ in tournies)

Well, You just picked up >1/3 your stack with no problem.... I think it's a good move. As long as you understand the risks (I know you do) of pushing here... because 90% of the time, the only hands that are calling, have you beat.

I don't know about that. You will get called by KQ, AQ and such, and the hands like 66 or 77 that may call, well the pot is giving you overlay.

I don't understand. how is that low risk? its coinflip if you get called with a pocket pair.
do you figure that if they call a low raise they are worst drawing hands than your own?
seems risky to me...

Majority of the time... like 80%+, you take down this pot with no contest...

Most players have Irexes covered so he is basically risking 1900 to win 750 chips.
If you asume he wont get called 80+% of the time can you not justify pushing with any 2 cards, based on fold equity alone.

But when you add the equity of the hand itself...

I do that all the time... even with slighly weaker hands...
At this stage of the SNG, you probably have a duck ass image, and poeple will respect that type of raise. Even if they dont entirely belive, why would they risk their STT on a non sure information without a premium hand?
Plus, 750 chips is significant for you.
I like the play
