After that many checks behind me, I definitely would have bet to see where I was as far as a check raiser was concerned. This was an incredibly weak group. It is unusual to see that many people check all the way through. Why do you think a bet would not have protected your hand??

I really would have bet the flop. Especially for the .25 bet.

I'm guessing you just sat down at the table?

If I just buy in and someone raises I'll almost always call 1 bet.

I'd bet the flop partialy because I flopped TPGK and partly for information. I think it's a pretty good flop for you (rainbow, not real coordinated). If you get reraised you can evaluate from there, but if the raiser just calls I'm thinking the flop missed him and he dosen't have a pair higher than a J.

Without a reraise on the flop I'm betting 4th and 5th street

There were like 14 small bets in the pot... people can call profitably with like any two cards. I had hoped the preflop better would bet so I could raise, but it didn't work out.

I felt that with only one card to come and getting only 7 to 1, it would be a lot easier for someone to fold an A or a Q (or a lower pair with a live kicker). If I bet and everyone called, they'd be getting like 11+ to 1 to see the river which gives those hands positive equity. Of course, if the free card had beat me that would have sucked... but I didn't think I could prevent them from seeing the turn anyway.

wow... 7 players in the pot... bet this flop... u dont want to give free cards to people holding 4s or 5s and 67... and have them make 2pair or the straight on the turn... make them pay if they want to do this!

I agree. I know mathematically it seemed ok to check, but in my opinion it is better to bet and let those who are willing to call call, and maybe eliminate some of the drawings. I like to bet agressively in this position to eliminate as many people as possibe. It seems like most of the time at least two would fold. I also like to see if anyone is running a checkraise play on my while the bets are half. And if they are, sometimes I can continue on if there are a couple of callers to make it equitable.

call this pf. huge odds. bet the flop for a few reasons.

protect your hand from a weaker hand/draw on the turn or river (this is ALOT of people to see a flop, i would be flabbergasted if nobody else got at least a small piece of the flop)
find out where you stand. say you check and the turn is a blank, but somone bets and there are 2 callers. what do you do now? you dont know the correct play, but you do, if you bet the flop.

dont worry about meeting any resistance. if you bet and somone makes a big raise, go ahead and fold. thats the idea of the flop bet, it saves you from making a stupid call on the river, you find out where you are alot sooner.
ideal is just to take this pot down with a flop bet, i would hate to be called here. however, i have to bet.
