Firsty i am glad to be posting on the forum as i have been reading these forums for awhile now...
Now i have been playing texas holdem for almost a year, and i enter a free tournament at our local RSL.. This is a NL Hold em up tournament which brings in many people... I have this tournament twice and find myself a passive player but past two weeks i have had some really bad runs, and wondering if anyone can give me advice on what i did wrong...

I raise 3 x BB ($6,000) - I have two callers who are all in, only $300 more chips, i decide to call.

He Turns over:![]()
I figure i have about an 80% chance of winning this hand and thinking what an idiot to go all in on 88.

Yeah that was my thoughts, it just amazes me that these sort of hands people call with when i have strong hand either knock me out or leave me with a very short stack.

For hand 3, if the person who called was big chip stack and big blind, he made the right call.
No bad plays, just bad luck.

1) unlucky
2) really unlucky
3) really, really unlucky
Not much strategy at all to each of these hands. 1) standard raise, easy odds to call 2) standard raise, easy call w/KK 3) back against the wall, best starting hand in HE, you want a call from Q7 and you got it.
I think you just wanted to hear that it was bad luck. It was. Welcome to the forum.

It's a good thing that they play like this.
It's really important to understand why at more than a superficial level.
