Default Don't tell me I'm the only one calling this...

The worst part, it felt like Q9. I have no way to explain it but when he bet $0.50 on the turn, Q9 came into my head. I still couldn't lay it down.

I wouldnt call the turn.. with mid/low pocket pairs, if I dont make a set and there are overcards on the board with betting, theyre nothing..
I might raise the turn to check he has anything then throw it away

thats how Id play, and im playing much lower limits than you so dont pay too much attention to this

    No, you're absolutely right.
Had I raised the turn, he probably would have re-raised me. I might have had a chance to fold on the turn or at least suspect something and fold on the river.

call the turn only if you think you are ahead, but then you're better off raising.

    On the river you're screwed.

I honestly did think I was ahead. I thought maybe he had bottom pair or a flush draw. I was hoping a blank would come off and he would check to me. I'd check it down and win a nice small pot.

    yup.

if you thought 8's were best, why didnt you raise the turn? you would have been raised, and folded, investing a fraction of what you lost on the river.

however, if he checked the turn, and you hit the 8, no way you can fold. just fold to that bet, you have invested .25 in the hand, there is no sense investing more with an underpair. and again, you cannot fold that river, dont question the fold with the river, you absolutely have to call. there are things in poker you can do to overly prevent these things from happening though. for instance, people always wonder why they lose big pots with like A8, top pair aces, 8 kicker. they ask where there play was flawed, and assume its the turn where they call a big bet. no, its preflop, where you called a raise out of position with a measly A8.

turn i fold, river i go all in. does that make sense?
I didnt see the show down, but I think you said he had Q9?

if he did he played it backwards. He was supposed to bet flop, and chek turn, but he played it poorly thus confusing you. I hit 8 on river and go all in so easy. no hesitation.
I get more ass than a toilet seat. All shapes/colors/sizes.
