if you are sure you're beaten, throw away your hand...its that simple. No use putting money into a pot that you know you'll lose.

    Regarding the play:

    Fine play IMO.

There's room to argue for an aggressive Brunson-esque raise on the turn, but I like the flat call with the pot as large as it is.

Raising the river is the right move. It was a little modest given the pot size, and the weaker flush would probably have called any raise there, but you didn't know that for certain and you really want a call.

What if I suspect he is on a flush draw and I'm holding 2/3s? When the flush hits and he starts betting/raising, you still don't think I should be concerned? I can understand in a tourney because by the time you figure it out, you've probably got too much invested already. But in a ring game I might get suspicous.
Big stack ring you have to be more cautious - that is why I dont play it.

Also, if there are 4 of a suit on the board you have to be more careful. I have tossed T high flushes when a fourth hit on the turn.

I only remember a handfull of times in my life when I have lost to flush over flush or set over set in holdem.
