How bout $10 on the $25 tables?

Its all about relativity...a bad play is a bad play regardless of how much MONEY is on the line.

good point. thats why its good when you speak in terms of money at the poker tables, its better to refer to it as big blinds. its all relative.

Look at it this way: even if you hit a miacle flop of 733 with your 73o, who is going to give you action? That's not the type of flop that's too likely to hit hit a lot of playable hands.

a couple of things.

1) Have people got to caught up in the 73off example? the original question I think is valid one. If 73 off is always a fold (and it is for me) what will you play from the SB that would usually be a fold?

2) whilst 733 is unlikely 73Q is not so unlikely. nor is 33K or 77A etc... there are actually any number of ways you could get paid with 73 off from the sb.

1. I'll play about anything suited and middle connected cards from the sb.

2. Even then, someone holding top pair in your example is going to be leary of a set with a pair on the board. You almost have to hope they hit two pair.

i'm no poker expert. but personally i play very aggresively in the sb and bb. Will always raise with anything and bet out or raise them first off. then depending on their reaction i will access how to proceed on the turn and river cards.

Do you have different standards for ring games vs tourneys? In the early stages of a tourney while the blinds are still very small, I will limp from the SB with almost anything. The payoff is too good if you hit; and its not a lot of chips that you are wasting (provided you know how to get away). Also, if you are constantly check/folding from the SB you set yourself up for a steal later in the game when blinds are bigger or a check/raise when you hit your flop.
I imagine standards need to be a little higher in the ring games?
