T vs M
Ok, anybody who's read HoH V2 or these forums for any length of time is familiar with M. The ratio of your stack size vs the blinds and antes to help determine your play...
There has also been another figure discussed on this forum that I'll call T (Haven't seen it defined anywhere else) that would be the ratio of your stack vs the BB. I find this number far easier to calculate to determine your danger lever and help affect your play.
Basically, if the blinds are 100/200 and your stack is 2100, your M=7, but your T=10.5. While this is concidered a slight danger zone, there isn't any reason to get super frisky yet. There are still plenty of revolutions around the table before you're blinded out so you can still pick a good spot with a decent hand. You are also not limited to the "All-In" move just yet.
HoH recommends different plays for different M's but the real discussion comes when your M is in the Orange or red zone...(M<10) that's when your play really starts to vary and you're in danger.
I tend to use the T system and start feeling the pressure when my T<10. This usually gives you a M of around 7.5 unless there are antes involved (in which case, I recalculate to account for that and I start feeling the pressure around T<12-15.
My question is this. Since both numbers tend to lead towards the same end, is one better then the other or is the fact I recognize the fact that if I don't make a move soon, I'll be a hurting puppy so as long as I stay informed of my stack size vs blind ratio, I can make (mostly) incorrect decisions based on that information?
