Default What does it take to laydown TPTK

Recently I've been burned alot when I flop TPTK with AK AQ or AJ and someone else ends up with a set or two pair. I usually put out a 1/2 to 3/4 of the pot-sized bet, but am unsure how to react to re-raises of different sizes. When I'm playing NL 90% of the time is in tournys and its really hard to lay this down when after apreflop raise and my bet on the flop 1/4 or more of my stack is already in the pot. I know this depends alot on my reads of players, but in tournaments the tables get shuffled so often its hard to have any info on the players.

Any advice would be helpful.

Also, at what point would you lay off betting TPTK? (if someone is slowplaying one of the above hands)

first of all, make sure you put in a hard raise preflop. (if you limped with AT, and flop come 67T, its hard to know where your at). So if ppl call a 3-4bb raise pf, you can narrow it down.

on the flop, the texture should tell you where you are. if i hold AJ in SB and a 3 way flop is, JT9 all hearts, im pretty much kissing this hand good-by. I might lead out and bet, but deffinately not geting atttched to it. Conversely, if i check, and the other two also check, on the turn i might figure im good and bet hard.

Many times it is easy to tell if the person is betting/ chasing a draw, oor if they are betting/smooth playing a made hand. Experiance should guide you. like 30-40k hands youll be bale to read better.

I'm raising enough preflop, I guess heres a example:

First hand at a new table in a MMT, blinds are 50-100 average stack is 2500. I have 2600. I get AhQd in middle position, action folds around to me, I raise to 300. Button (with 2000) and big blind (with 3000) call. Flop comes JsQs7d, I bet 400 into the pot of 950 to reduce flush, straight odds. How would you react if the button folds and BB put me all-in for my remaining 1900

I hate to fold here and be down 700 chips and left wondering if I just got bluffed off best hand, also trip 7's or JQ for two pair makes sense for the preflop calls. Do I just call and bitch if he flips those one of those hands over? Arg this type of thing happened to me twice today.

p.s. I play mostly online so physical tells are no good

in this situation I would bet the pot on the flop. (even if htat means i go all in). by betting 400, your are giving hime nice odds to make a call. if both call then 800+950 =1750. and it only costs 400$ to see next card so 17:4 =4.2:1

in this case your giving great odds for a call (if both call). If one of them folds, now the odds for the remaining player are worse.

If i am put all-in. I call quite fast. alot of hands beat me, but risks must be taken in order to double up.

If you dont like playing flops. Play power poker; all in PF with hands,

yeah in tournys when the blinds get high (20bb average stacks are kind of high) youll usually be forced to live or die with any hand you play strong preflop.

don't be affraid to bust out if you think your ahead!

I hate those situations

I don't like calling a big re-raise with just one pair. I'll do it if the odds I'm getting are pretty good, but I try to keep pots small to avoid it. Usually in a tourney you have to call here... but never in a cash game.

^Terrible. Those big losses against the terrible players are the ones I always remember. I play limit too, so I can't force anybody to fold, or manipulate pot odds much. Many luck of the draw, runner-runner plays like that have beaten me hard.
