He claimed after the hand that he only had pocket Qs. I was really skeptical of the check (min) raise on the flop and in hindsight I'm think I should've called, but I was afraid of a weak Ace.

Pocket Ks....A on the Flop

No Limit is not your game man. You get walked all over with all your best cards. Either bet like you have a pair or stop playing NL. you bet that flop to see where it gets you he raises, you gotta reraise with KK. I bet he was on a heart draw and figured you for weak or he had a pair of J. If he really had a hand he wouldnt have left 80c behind on his $4 bet...think about what that means.
I mean you could have been beat, but Id rather see you lose than post more big hands played weak.Trons: "...be a winning person first."

Something to look out for here... you have no reverse implied odds because he's out of chips. You can see the showdown here for 4.75 or so... with the cash in the pot and the range of possible holdings he has you should definantly consider doing so. Maybe if he had another 15 bucks to bet the river you don't want to call the turn bet... but he didn't. Look for similar situations when you have marginal made hands.

I would probably check this flop. Its not a weak play necesserily. Although I think your idea of betting is okey too. You bet the flop, and he put in a minimum raise. This is a tough situation for any cash player with KK. The only hands that an average person would do this with, I think are Ax, QQ, and maaaybe a flush draw. Set would be played slower I think. JK?? hence the situation is bad.
Calling his minimum raise is poor. Fold, or re-raise. Calling and then cheking turn is so cliché. Besides the call onn flop I like your plays. Good fold on turn imo.Last edited by gder03; January 30th, 2006 at 09:31 PM.
