When he raised i sensed that he was just trying to close down the pot, im unsure weather calling his big bet was a good idea.
Previously the table had been extremely tight which is what made me put him on 1 spade on a flush draw.

Bad beat? Are you kidding? This is so obvious a Fold pre-flop it hardly requires analysis. You have some reading to do about what constitutes a starting hand my friend. But in the mean time, where do you play soi I can join in?

You say the table was tight, why call with Q7s?

    You should have folded preflop.
If you think he is bullying you on the flop you need to raise not call, if you dont hit your cards then you have lost anyway, the only way to take this pot down is to reraise or hit a queen.
You bet far far too weakly to discourage him on the turn, he saw it for what it was ( a horribly weak steal ).

Your outs are limited as well because the Q and 7s give the flushdraw, you had 4 outs to win it, the only way you are taking this pot down is raising allin on the flop and hoping everyone folds.

When calling and raising are bad moves, you have to go with option #3 ( fold ).

I dont think thats what a bad beat is,, like people said thats a fold pre flop, you had bad position and bad cards.

take a look at pot odds too on the flop, they dont warrant a call a quick looks tells you thats about 2 to 1 and a flush draw is 3 to 1, but THIS flush draw may require discounted outs as he may well have a higher spade (as it turns out he did).

on the turn, pot odds are about 3/5 and flush draw on the river is about 1/6, a much less marginal decision.

i knew that if i avoided a spade on the river i would have won the hand. Even if a spade did come up i thought he could also have a lower spade (unlikely tho)

Shocking play from both sides, I reread the hand history twice cause I thought I was missing something.
