i was just wondering what a good strategy for 3/6 LHE is. i was playing last night in a B&M and it seems that there is no such thing as folding for these people. i got AA and KK cracked back to back. i was just wondering what is a good strategy to play with at this level that can be profitable.

Its like playing .10/.20 online. If you can win there you can win $3/6 BnM

If you haven't read Small Stakes Hold'em or added it to your library - DO IT! A lot of players figure once you get over the $1 BB the players suddenly get better - WRONG! Nemos are like fish in the ocean - their everywhere and play just as badly at $3/$6 as they do a .25/.50 SSH is an excellent strategy for winning against these very loose players. One word of caution thou, if you run up against a good player don't forget to tighten up and play more like 'Holdem for Advanced Players'.

3/6 live is like penny games online or quarter games at the kitchen table. In fact it may be looser than .05/.10 online.
See the flop with your good hands and be a bit more passive if you start getting re-raised. continuation bets, bluffs, and semi-bluffs rarely work. Play a solid straightforward game and you'll be fineRead my musings on poker and life at Online Poker Examiner, Poker Examiner, PokerNewsBoy.com, and My Poker Blog

What is the average pot size then for a $3/$6 live hold 'em game in a casino in the States? If the games are that bad surely you can earn more than 1 big bet per hour as is always quoted?

$100-150 pots are not uncommon. An average pot would be in the $50-60 range I'm guessing. I have only played 3/6 a few times in vegas, Foxwoods has 2/4 and 4/8. I know 4/8 at foxwoods has pots around $75 and $150-200 is quite possible.
I should say that I haven't consistently played these games since before the WPT took off and I'm going on just a few sessions where I played these stakes while waiting for another game.
I also know a few full time 4/8 players at foxwoods, they don't win a ton but I bet they win 20K+ a year playing it. Most of the dealers also think the 4/8 game is more profitable than 5/10 or 10/20.
4/8 is a 2 and 4 chip game, any live player knows these are always the loosest games.Last edited by Steve Ruddock; 01-28-2006 at 03:52 PM.
