    Default Why Didn't This Work?

    Seat 5: MrMcj [7H,QC] ($27.05 in chips)
I was in the BB, otherwise I would never have been in this pot to begin with. My table image should have been pretty tight at this point although something tells me that the villain in this case wasn't paying attention.

I would've liked to see you raise his .50 bet on the flop. if he was drawing, (which he was) he might have backed off. thats the mistake i think.

Your check on the flop, maybe. It looks like this guy might call down a lot with draws or very marginal hands.

If you are raising to protect your hand, rather then to slowplay, do it on the flop. Trust me, this hand needs a lot of protecting! You should have raised to about $2 there.

When you do raise, don't raise the minimum unless your ONLY goal is to extract more money. Raise the pot if you're protecting your hand... on the turn you should have raised to about 4.50.

The river I would definantly check/call. At this point if he calls the best you can hope to see is A high... and he's a lot less likely to call your bet with that then he is to bluff at it. You may make some money here by inducing a bluff, but you're not likely to by betting out.
-You may not know this, but poker is a game of incomplete information.

I wasn't really raising to protect my hand. I didn't really think I had the best hand at this point (although I really did) but I sensed weakness in my opponent. I just flat called his flop bet in hopes of taking the pot away later. However, I do agree that this was probably where I made my biggest mistake of the hand.

I didn't really want a call on the turn or the river. Again, I didn't suspect I had the best hand so I thought the only way I could win it was to make my opponent fold. Had I just check/called, I knew I was going to lose.

If I was him, I don't think I could have called my bets on the turn OR the river. Was my thinking wrong?

Although I have a very tough time time playing middle pair on the flop, I would agree you'd need to raise this flop, to protect your hand. If it didn't chase him off, you possibly could've gotten a free card on the turn. Then decide on the river if you still feel you have the best hand. I'm not as experienced as alot of others here myself but that's just my thoughts here, they could be completely off.

BTW, your hands would be alot easier to follow if you used the hand converter before you posted them

The hand converter doesn't seem to work for pokerroom (or am I just using it wrong?)

Don't know if you modify you hand histories before you post them here but it kinda worked with what you have posted. Did you read the sticky all the way through so you know what selections to make on the converter?
