Me and my friends used to play only tournaments, now we've come to start playing cash games, and I'm looking for some tips to playing this game. We play quarter-50 cent blinds, buy-in 10-20 dollars, usually everyone buys in the minimum and rebuys if they go broke.
Here's what I can tell you about the the game.
1. Raising to $2 which not get rid of players who have any decent hand (people will stick around with any A, any two face cards, and any pair)
2. Players love suited cards, connectors, etc. typical beginner stuff.
3. People will call all-in with the same hands they push with (meaning no Gap concept)
4. People generally like to gamble (a lot of all-ins and a lot of them are called.
There are two ways I'm thinking about playing at this game, any suggestions to which is best, or offer up a third option.
1. Limp in as much as possible, espeically from late position. With the small stacks am I getting good enough implied odds to try to catch with suited connectors and small pairs?
2. Make raises of $4 preflop with strong hands, hoping to get heads up. Then since the pot is going to be $8+ I'm getting good odds to push all-in with top pair, or any draw of 8 outs or more.

is this NL ?
eh...beginners stuff...
you shouldve rarely limp in. Fold Fold Fold Fold Fold preflop. if you arent folding you should be A. Raising B. ReRaising.
Limp in late position with small pocket pairs. fold them in early position.
it seems like there are a lot of reckless players would call/play almost anything. You really dont want to be in those pots with weak hands. if you are going to get called down or go all in and get called, you'll want to have a strong hand...though in multihand pots, high suited connectors are strong as well.
true, you arent gonna scare anyone off with $2. PFR. Raise more with big hands. Learn to throw away garbage hands or trouble hands.
Stay away from the All in unless you have the nuts or you're doing it preflop with a strong strong hand. AA KK AK.

tight/aggressive
play tight aggressive....you know what they're staying in with most of the time...have the patience to wait until you can get good enough hole cards, and then milk them for anything and everything you can....it takes patience, and a lot of mucks, but the one or two big wins per hour (or so on average) will make a nice profit for you in the long run
