Was this a good laydown?

Unless you had a REALLY good history on that guy, this was a horrible lay down. You are truly fearing AA here?? A lot of player will make this move with TT+ and AJo+.......
Even if we give Him QQ+ and AQs+, you are still a favorite
equity (%) win (%) tie (%)
Hand 1: 58.9448 % 56.75% 02.19% { KK }
Hand 2: 41.0552 % 38.86% 02.19% { QQ+, AQs+, AKo }
And my first example:
equity (%) win (%) tie (%)
Hand 1: 68.2928 % 67.32% 00.97% { KK }
Hand 2: 31.7072 % 30.73% 00.97% { TT+, AJs+, AJo+ }Marm is back, maybe. Been off for 3 years. Rusty as Hell.

Well,
Given the amount you reraised I think he must expect a call. I struggle to put him on anything other than AA. Some people would say never fold KK, in that situation I think you can.
Also think how it affects you mentally. If you can think I am happy with my laydown I believed he had AA and then continue playing your normal game, lay it down.
If you are likely to sit and question whether he had aces, get annoyed that your kings probably ran into aces and tilt your chips away going all in a few hands later on pocket 7's then call and if you lose move on to next tournament.

Terrible.
Maybe if you were on the bubble and 2nd in chips and two people had only the BB left - MAYBE.

You had a roughly 4K pot which would have cost you 1K to see to the river. Villian probably saw the river with someone to get his stack to 2700. What did he have?
FYI- There is no way that I am folding this. I'd rather be out of the tourney than fold KK to AQ, AK, TT, JJ, QQ or even worse hands. There is one hand that beats you preflop. Fear it? No way. If you do, poker is not your game.
I have a feeling that this was not your discomfort with calling but rather the fact that the buyin was $15 and you may have had emotional issues with the price.Trons: "...be a winning person first."
RECENT SUCCESS: December
4th place $20+2 Stars MTT $1740, 3rd place $15+1.50 Stars MTT $1300

Of course I would have called had I put him on anything other than AA. That's a given.
I also would have called if it didn't put me all in and I had chips left to recover with.
However, I had won two pots and lost one with tight aggressive play. I'm trying to recognize my opponents holding AA and I picked this as one of those times. My play till then should have deserved respect and I had a gut instinct that the PF betting pattern indicated he had AA.
I did come third in this by the way and frankly my goal in these STT is to come in the money and then turn hyper aggressive.
Comments thus far are interesting. Thanks.Last edited by JokersWild; 01-18-2006 at 01:29 PM.

I agree with this for a cash game. But in a tournament you can't buy back in.

its like what. 1/23 he has AA? multiply it by the strength he is showing maybe its 1/10.
I get more ass than a toilet seat. All shapes/colors/sizes.

I find this hard to believe is this case. He re-raised the initial raiser (a 6xBB UTG raise by the way) and then went over the top when faced with a re-re-raise. To me that's crazy or AA.
