I was planning on playing a bunch of $5 45 man SnG's on Stars. Does this seem like good practice for my live event or would you recommend another tourney?

Nothing will prepare you for a live event unless it is live. Expect to get about 22-25 hands per hour.
If you have lived entirely online your whol poker career to date - Nothing can prepare you.
As far as field size, it's a good idea, but I will tend to bring an MP3 in the beginning just to curve the boredom in the beginning.
Gluck!

Thanks for the advice. I have played many live tourneys in the past, but its been about 7 months since I played a good one. The last one I played in Showboat AC I had AA cracked in the first hour when I got all my chips in preflop. I'm not worried about playing, just figured that I could get my mind in the frame of outlasting 40 people with the 45 SnG.
