I was just playing in a UB tournament, and played, what I thought, were high percentage hands. Which, in this case, where very few and far between. I was being critisezed by one play for the whole tournament who chased straights, and flushes, got up in chips, and busted out before I did playing tighter than I normally do. Does anyone have any opinions, ideas, thoughts on how I did play? Did I do the right thing? Should I have been a little loser? I don't know.
I've been playing on UB for almost 4 years now. I'm not claiming to be uber-fantastic or anything, but I do think that I am an above average poker player. Is it just me, or is UB not really the best place to be playing? I'm thinking about moving to a different site. I hear everyone on the forums talking about Pokerstars. Is it really that much better? Lemme know ladies and gents.
Thanks.

Strategy for Tourneys

Well, UB is a fine place to play. And if this was one of their turbos... you really need to mixing it up. Playing super tight, High % hands will get you killed in the long run (IMHO). Heres my thoughts on it: Different Tourny style: Limp and Go.

This was the 11:15 tournament with 2500 people in it. But yeah, the Ultra Turbo, I find are super fun to play in. Loose play is great in those. Well, strategic plays anyway.

I'm MrArmageddon for play money, and I just started with real money. Baldnsexy is that account. I'm probably not. I don' think I've ever played with you if that is your name on UB. Check anyway, that would be cool to know. Is Poker Tracker worth it? Could you give me a quick rundown on how it works?
In this tourney specifically, I had the hand 72o NUMEROUS times, and this guy is griping and complaining about the fact that I'm folding. Is that not unreasonable on his part?Last edited by MrArmageddon; 01-17-2006 at 10:42 AM.

Poker Tracker works by reading the site its sold at: www.pokertracker.com
Then for opinions do a search with keyword: pokertracker.
50% sarcasm here, but 100% truth. There is tons of info on it.Trons: "...be a winning person first."

yeah, I was trying to get a person's opinion on it who is ACTUALLY using it. Oh, I'm sure I'll be able to find info on it. I have, in fact, been to the website. Thanks though.

He was trying to affect you mentally, and it seems he did.
If you are constantly putting yourself in situations where you are putting all your money in with a worse hand - be concerned.
If you are so tight that you don't make a move until you are down to a stack of 3BB - be concerned.
If another player at the table critisises you just ignore him. Don't let him change your game plan.

Well, the nice part is, he didn't get me to play these poor hands. I made moves on some of my hands, and I did win a few pots. I outlasted him, that's all that matters. Well, not the only thing, but it was nice.

Try doing a search... majority of the serious players here use it, as do most serious online players in general. (Note I said serious, not winning, you don't have to have it to be a lightweight hobbyist winning player, or even serious hobbyist, but it does give an edge that you don't normally get).
