I used to always fold in this situation preflop but the odds tempted me too much, also how is the post flop play, should i have raised more than i did ( i know it worked out for best that i didnt but what would be the right bet) ?

Thats so iffy... so borderline.... The PF call was iffy, but doable... and then you got fubar'd on the flop.... But your hand is so marginal now anyways.... probably best to fold......
Marm is back, maybe. Been off for 3 years. Rusty as Hell.

    Cool

pott odds or not, thats a tough hand. you are easaily up against AJ, AQ, KQ, KJ, AK, hell, anything, like marm said its such a borderline hand.

the idea of not playing hands like that is so when you get a flop like that (top pair) you arent forced into a tough decision. most of the time, you are going broke on that particular hand. it was a raised pot. chances are you are outkicked or outpaired.

just wait for a bit better hand, say AQ. put in a raise and hope someone makes the same mistake you did.

hmm.. pot odds or not.. i dont really like the preflop call.. ur sitting at about 21 BB's.. i think its time that u played a little tighter.. also ur out of position with 4 people left to act behind you... on top of that it was UTG who raised it preflop.. gotta respect that, so im folding preflop

Min raised from the small blind, its a hard lay down but you're first to act now with 4 guys, including the original raiser to act after you

I'd call that preflop, the position's not great but it's a great opportunity to take down a huge pot for minimal risk.

The trick is to let it go post flop with that Jxx flop as what you're looking for is either 2 pair or a good straigt draw to take it down. I'd check the flop and look for the last person to act to bluff it (in which case I'd reraise) or hope to see the turn.

Reads on the other guys (betting patterns VPIP would be the key though)

you bet 450 into a pot of 1500.

Terrible, either check to see what your opponents do or bet 750-900.

if i was in ep i would check it and if one person raised behind me i'd put in the minimum reraise, if they call i'll consider that they may have a hand or outs and slowdown on the turn,,if it gets checked to me in lp i'll raise my usually post flop raise probabley 1/2 to 3/4 the pot, if anyone calls eather there slowplaying, drawing, or have a weak top pair like you. i just want to reach the showdown as cheap as possible and if i feel i have the best hand on the river i'll bet..espicially in the situation above eather he'll check in lp with the trip 7 or put out a small bet hoping to get callers, you reraise he calls or he reraises you.. if he calls you slowdown.. if he reraise you fold. if it gets checked around on the flop i'll make the same play on the turn if i don't improve. its a conservative style but in a tourny your trying to survive
