I've haven't had much luck with AK raising preflop lately, but on Wednesday night I was playing at Pokerstars and had it come up 4 times and won 3 times.
It helps when you have very loose players and the other thing I noticed was that no one had raised before me so all three times when the board it I had either a A or K paired. The one time it didn't hit on the flop I dropped the hand. In the past I felt pressure to continue betting to the river for either a pair or hoping that the other person would fold.
I'll have a better outlook when I'm delt this hand next time I play.

AK
You definitely have to be able to let this one go. Actually you need to be able to drop any hand AA included if you don't hit the flop and people are firing back at you. This of course assumes you fired in a bet big enough to scare off the limpers PF. Taking it to the river just hurts your bankroll.

AK is (was) one of my biggest losing hands. I tend(ed) to overvalue ot way to much and take it too far. I speak in the kinda past tense because I noticed the numbers in PT I made some changes to play style of play with AK, I may have gone back to old habits of late.....

AK is doyle brunsons favorite hand(over aces) for a very good reason, and you realised that reason without knowing it.
you play AK like this. you obviously raise preflop. if you dont flop a pair, you dump the hand without investing too much money. if you connect the flop in any way, you usually have some sort of top pair, and you are going to most likley win a nice pot. otherwise, you get away without a tough decision.
just dont over value it when you miss the flop, it should be a hand that is easy to get away from!

tourny or cash? I have discovered that going all in with AK pf, is cool for tourny.
