    Default Slowplaying top 2 pair

Do people feel that in a Texas Hold 'Em Ring game it is ever correct to slowplay top two pair, and if so under what circumstances?

E.g Today I was on the BB holding . There were 2 middle-late position limpers and the small blind completed.

    The flop came down:

SB checked, I checked, the next player bet 3/4 of the pot and the other 2 players folded.

Given the nature of the board (e.g possible OESD for QJ and 2 spades) I felt I had to raise to give incorrect odds to any of these draws. I made a raise offering him just under 3-1 odds and the player folded.

Do people think it is ever correct to just call in this sort of situation or is the hand just too vulnerable?

its probably best to take the money and run. I usually end up second guessing my self in situations like this. I'll bet my hand hard and everyone folds, take down a small pot and think 'maybe i should have slowplayed to get more money'. Next time i'll slow play, and someone will out draw me, i'd then i'll think 'maybe i should have raised to take the pot'.

In that specific hand with the flush and straight draws its a bit too risky to give him another card.

I would slow play top two pair in fair few situations, but the flop would need to look alot safer than that...if there was just me and another player in, with a small pot (i.e. just the blinds) then i would probably slow play...but its usually best to take down the pot at the earliest opportunity.
I love him who is ashamed when the dice fall in his favour and who then asks: Am I then a cheat? for he wants to perish.

no way. do not call. you must raise here if you want to win the hand (maybe less $ than if you slow play bit the chance of winning the hand is higher by puttin in re-raise)

this flop has two possible draws, so i do not recommend slow play. however if flop was ragged, then slow playing this HU could be possible. If your a jackal there is never any reason to slow play. But you are prolly tight so a check raise will send a serious messege.
I get more ass than a toilet seat. All shapes/colors/sizes.

It's one of those things where you get the it depends answer. Recently, I was playing in a MTT, and I raised in the cutoff with J-9. The SB had called, and I had noticed that he was a really defensive kind of player who had played like many typical internet players (Duh, they don't have anything, REEEEEEE-RAAIISSEE). So I flop top two with a rainbow, good time to check behind him, no? No, I decided that if I put about a half-sized pot bet, he might conclude I was just putting in a continuation bet and he could take the pot with a re-raise. I did just that, and sure enough he pushed me all-in which I called and he flipped up A-8 sooooooted. He turned a flush draw and thankfully missed on the river. Again, your opponent is just as important. If he's not splashing around in a lot of pots you might as well just take down the pots. But it is the loose, aggressive maniacs that you just trap trap trap for all their chips.
