Muhahahahaha. Want to share a perfect SNG ITM I just played.
100/200 me 1000. Worst player in the world, Fishface 5000 not only limps every hand, he doesn't even know how to bluff on the flop, just fit and fold, though my main food, I still hate him irrationally. John 2000 plain weak tight, I hate him too.

AQ I push. Fishface A7 calls. I win with high card.

99 I raise. Fishface calls. 99J Fishface checks, I check. 99JT Fishface bets 200, everybody knows you are drawing, dummy! I call. 99JTQ Fishface bets 1000, I push, he calls. Like a dream.

A9 I push. Fishface 900 calls. I bust the limper's behind with high card ace.

QT I 7000 push. John AJ 1000 calls, he wins with high card ace.

Q5 I 6000 push. John 2000 calls. I hit two pair win.

I still agree with Scottie to some extent. I've played alot of STT and theres nothing worst than ending up 3rd after being chip leader 3 or 4 handed. It seems to happen alot. Probably the correct thing to do is to play agressive in this situation but losing one coin flip could see you start to struggle. As always the texture of the table is important and the type of playersis very important, If I raise with Ax here I want the guy to fold not call, how likely or not this is to happen you will have an idea of from his play throughout the tournament.

Lets face it if there was definative and correct play to play NL TH then we'd all have the same bankroll and it would be a pretty boring game

there are definite correct plays to make. there are definite wrong plays to make.

the gray areas are closer than you think.

It is costing you 450 every 3 hands to play, you only have a stack of 4000.

in six hands if you havent won a pot and havent bothered completing the SB, you will have 3100 in ship, your oppoenet will have 900 more chips. You stack here isn't that big, you don't have time to waste.

A7 is a clear push from any spot where you are opening. A4 from the button is a little more questionable, but still most likely correct.

you followed the golden rule of button-age; NEVER LIMP ON THE BUTTON WHEN ONLY THE BLINDS ARE LEFT.... raise it or fold it.... you made the correct play and you got beat... big deal... you were the favorite when all the money went in and that is all a poker player can hope for.. the rest is just the cards falling for you... shake it off.. feel good that you made the right move

Me shaken 2000+ A4o sb, I push. 33 calls and bust me.

Seems like I gave oppotunities for short stakes to coin flip. Dropping from 1st place to bust is a crime. Am I playing the best strategy? Too aggressive?
Having not read any of the other replies... I like these plays... Maybe not a push perse on the first one, but at LEAST a bet of 900....

Why 900? Are you really going to fold A7 when one pushes? Maybe if both push I guess..

The thing I hate about the 900 is, if one just calls, the flop comes QT3 and he pushes. You could easily have the best hand here, but its a weird spot. Push it prefloP!
