Default Nothing special just wondering how this should be played

Limit players what do you think about this play? I'm mostly concerned with my flop and turn actions. Did I have the right idea going but didn't follow through by checking the turn? Fairly new to the table so there wasn't much in terms of reads but overall I would say it was a fairly typical ML table.

You played that pretty much textbook, the raise on the flop did 2 things it built the pot and got you a free card. You played the hand as good as could be played.

I like it. If the turn was a A/K/Q I would have bet, obviously, but since it paired the top board card and three people called the flop raise I think you HAVE to check this since you have outs with the flush and you are last to act.

Behind a single limper and you are on the button I don't think you can limp with this ever. Two limpers maybe.......but a single limper no way.

Imho, as far as raising PF, a lot of it will have to do with your table image, how tight the blinds have been playing (will they fold) and what kind of player UTG+1 is. If UTG+1 is a decent player, (which is probably isn't if he's first in without a raise), then you can put probably put him on a mid-low PP that he's looking for trips (the flop helps this, not hurts this) or AJ AT or something similar. Where this becomes a problem is if an A falls...

I may raise this (probably not) if I haven't played a hand in a while, but I'm raising this as a semi-steal/bluff/hopefully I'll hit a hand type move, not as a "I think I have the best hand right now".

With BB betting into you (A weak lead?) he's showing that he's not afraid of any of the cards on the board (or they helped him) and he's not afraid of your raise PF. You do have the second nut flush draw, plus the overcards, so I like the raise on the flop.

The check on the turn is fairly textbook. I like it mainly because somebody probably hit their trips and are planning a check/raise which you don't allow them to do. One of my biggest problems is betting in this situation trying to force more people out, build the pot when I hit and basically hide my hand. Unfortunately, I usually get check raised by the guy who hit his boat when the board paired and I'm drawing dead...I'm at least aware of it and trying to concentrate to fix the problem...

Over all, I think you played it as well as you could have with the only real questionable move being the PF raise (which you really didn't ask for comments on )

Default Thanks for the replies

Well just as a guideline, I'm trying to use the starting hands and positions from SSH (although I haven't finished the book )and it recomends raising here. Which I guess like some of you mentioned can be dependent on the table. Anyway that's one of the reasons I raised plus my PF raise % has been pretty low and I want to get a little more aggressive PF. I was wondering if I should've bet the turn after everyone checked to my raise I was thining anyone who had something strong would reraise. It seems like on Stars though there's very few people who will check raise or 3 bet a street unless they're a maniac or have a monster. Alot of the times it seems like a check call all the way to the river and people seem to do it even if they just have bottom pair.

Actually a hand like this has gotten me thinking about what I've read in some books on LHE. It talks about how this is a pretty strong hand, having 2 big suited cards and a flush draw (I'm assuming as long as nobody is capping every street). However flush draws have a 35% chance to hit after the flop and you have about an 11% chance of hitting 4 to a flush on a flop. So how are odds like that profitable to play over the long term? Is it the implied odds that makes it pay off?

I play it the same. Chance I would bluff raise the turn, but taking the free card is probably better.
