    Default Using Scare Cards

IN the following hand, I actually misplayed the river, correctly I think. I was busy and didn't notice the boat, jsut that The flush had arrived, I noticed right after I checked.

    PokerStars 0.10/0.20 Omaha/8 (8 handed) converter

    Preflop: Hero is BB with , , , .
1 fold, UTG+1 calls, MP1 calls, 1 fold, CO calls, 2 folds, Hero checks.

    Flop: (4.50 SB) , , (4 players)
Hero bets, UTG+1 calls, MP1 folds, CO calls.

    Turn: (3.75 BB) (3 players)
Hero bets, UTG+1 calls, CO folds.

    River: (5.75 BB) (2 players)
Hero checks, UTG+1 bets, Hero raises, UTG+1 calls.

    Final Pot: 9.75 BB
Main Pot: 9.75 BB, between Hero and UTG+1. > High won by Hero (9.75 BB) No low.

    Results in white below:
Hero has 5c 7d 8s 8c (High: full house, eights full of threes).
UTG+1 has Th Jh As Qc (High: flush, queen high).
    Outcome: Hero wins 9.75 BB.

So this Immediately brought up a scenario in my head, pretty much this one. When a draw fills, the obvious one helps your opponent you think, but helps your hand more, do you bet out, or CR them? I'm going to do a EV problem here, in general, but I would like ot hear some discussion on this first.

    Kind of like this?

Acutally, now that I read your post again, that isn't what you are talking about.

Tough in a game like Omaha if you don't have really close to the nuts - like top boat. Although by the betting action here, Queens full is unlikely.

I mean, being able to use your opponents completed draw against them.

CR is always good as long you can be reasonbly sure the guy is going to bet. In that hand you got lucky, if i was last to act in omaha i wouldn't bet a Q high flush on the river, with a paired board, if you put a gun to my head. It was lousy play by him that paid you off, but if you think that someone will be bet, check to them a let them bet.

If you've been betting out, every round, and then act scared and check when the draw lands, it is more likely they're going to bet, but given the way that guy played you probably could have got more by betting, him raising, and then reraising. He'd been calling all the way down to the river hoping for a heart to land, theres a good chance he would have raised instead of calling now he had made his hand.
I love him who is ashamed when the dice fall in his favour and who then asks: Am I then a cheat? for he wants to perish.

I think that is especially true in Holdem.

In omaha, that 3rd nut flush is pretty weak, so they guy may have simply called behind.

I've learned the hard way about trying to check-raise the river. I'd want to be VERY, VERY sure that he'd hit is draw, and that he's not so passive that he'd check anything but the nuts anyway.
I'm CDO. It's like OCD, but everying is in order just like it should be.
