Hi all!
I recently started playing poker. I´m from Munich, Germany and google led me here.
I play Limit Holdem 1/2 on Titan- got there by accident but kinda like it there.
I considered my play as tight-aggressive but since having read SSHE my play became more and more passive and weak (no disrespect to Miller at all).
I see 17-25% of the flops and win 8-15% of the hands.
I fold way too often and almost 70% of my losses I make from BB.
Here now one hand maybe you could tell me your opinion and the way you´d have played it:
me on BB holding 35o
PF 4 callers (5.5SB)
Flop: JA3 rainbow
EP1 (calling station) bets, MP ("odds?what odds?") raises, I (no odds)... fold (9.5SB)
4 and 2 on turn and river completing my straight.
Now my problem: I counted with 5 outs but left the straight outs aside.
Is there a way to count them correctly in and how? (no help in SSHE and HPAP)
Anyone who would have called and why?
EP1 held A3 and won.

might be wrong by i seem to remember reading somewhere that the odds on hiting a runner-runner draw (straight or flush) is about 4%, which is equal to 1 more out...
so for that hand (assuming two pair would be a winning hand) your outs would be 2 threes, 3 fives, plus 1 for the runner-runner straight...making 6/47 cards which help you (12.75%), but you needed to call 2 bets out of 9.5 (21%)...so you were right to fold...I love him who is ashamed when the dice fall in his favour and who then asks: Am I then a cheat? for he wants to perish.

Actually Miller used backdoor odds through most of SSH. Backdoor draws is found on page 101 - bd str8s = 1 out and bd flushes = 1.5 outs.
As for calliing - I never chase a runner-runner unless I have top pair to compensate.
